Your first memory of a fireworks display?
There was only one in my small town. One firework every three or four minutes for about 45 minutes. We thought it was wonderful.
Is there any certain person or persons that come to mind in regard to this holiday? Maybe a nice memory from a while back?
Not really. I wish I did, though.
Does your family put on their own "extravaganza" on the 4th? Whose yard gets blown up?
Nope. We live in the city. Our yard is very small and made up mostly of a vegetable garden. OUr neighbors' houses are 10 feet away. We already had a garage burn down, so we wouldn't risk it even if we had fireworks.
How far have you gone (distance) to see a fireworks display?
About 15 miles.
What is the best item for lighting them off? Matches? A candle? A bar-b-que click lighter? A cigarette?
I don't do fireworks. I let others do that.
Have you seen the fireworks display at Disney's Cinderella's Castle?
No. I've seen them while sitting on the banks of the Potomic, with the Jefferson Memorial and the Lincoln Monument as a background.
Are you gonna bar-b-que somethin'? What?
Maybe. We might go to the St. Croix River on the MN/WI border and picnic and swim, then come home for fireworks.
How many people are coming over for the shindig? Or are you going over to their place?
See above. We may do this alone.
Does your state allow fireworks to be purchased by individuals?
Nope. We have to go to Wisconsin to buy, except for sparklers and snakes.
Did you throw sparklers as a kid?
No.
Ever tossed firecrackers at each other?
No.
Did you ever have a block party (like we're doing)?
No.
Have you ever kissed under the fireworks?
No.
Have you ever "done it" during the fireworks? (I can see the face you're making right now!)
No.
Did you just smile?
No. (I'm a grump.)
What did you do last year for this holiday?
Grilled and watched fireworks.
Are you going to watch the Sci-Fi Channel's 4th of July Marathon?
Didn't know there was one.
Do you know what a "punk" is?
Yup.
Will you watch the Macy's Spectacular tomorrow night?
No, I'll be outside, it the weather is OK.
Is your lawn littered with burned out fireworks shells the next morning?
No. We have a tiny lawn and alert police. There's a special squad of police just to stop fireworks.
Who gets to clean up that mess?
There will be no mess.
What else would you want to tell us about the 4th, that I may have left out?
You could ask what we are eating and how much the bulldog will get to eat.
How many times have I used the word "fireworks" in this survey?(haha! got ya!)
45?
I want everybully to think back to 4th's-gone-by and dredge up all those great memories for this one. Feel free to expound in as much detail as you like. This is gonna be a great holiday!! Have you got a stash (of fireworks) at your house right now? I'm not telling! Anyway, hands on keyboards? Ready? GO!
I remember several years work of July 4th celebrations sitting on the lawn of the US Capitol listening to the National Symphony with a formal picnic, watching the fireworks. That was really great. I also remember attending the Bicentennial on the Mall.
Will you watch the fireworks at home or go out to a display?
Too many trees to see any fireworks from home.
Do you listen/watch the Boston Symphony do "Stars and Stripes Forever" along with the fireworks in Boston?
No, but I did watch the National Symphony do that (see above.)
Brain teaser: what's the true meaning of the 4th of July?
Signing of the Declaration of Independence.
What's the worst trick you've ever played on someone using fireworks?
Trick? I didn't ever do fireworks tricks.
Who gets to light them off?
Not me.
Is/are your bully/bullies scared and duck for cover during the booms?
No, Maybull thinks the fireworks and loud noises are just another airplane landing a t the airport a mile away. She ignores them.
What's your favorite firework? Rockets? Aerial Bombs? Roman Candles? Fountains? What?
I like the professional ones.
Did you ever put a cherry bomb in someone's mailbox?
No.
Tell us about the time somebully got injured or did something stupid with fireworks.
Never saw anyone injured.
Happy Canada Day, Happy Independence Day everyone!
