so my husband knows this woman who does website maintenance and such for him and she just hit us up braging about her new puppy ... !
her husband apparently always dreamed of owning a english bulldog and she got him this pupp (for christmas) telling him : "this is the closest we can get to a english bulldog"
she told us that the guy selling the pupps said that the bitch was a english bulldog and the stud a labrador !
i onestly cant even imagine how thats supposed to work out !?
weird enough you would think.... but it gets better .... she says the dog parents where both registerd lol and that the litter was 9 puppys......
he was selling the pupps on a wallmart parkinglot !!!! she payed $100 for it after talking him down from $150 .

about a guy selling this dogs but his price was $400 and the dogs looked like pitbulls. This is what ignorance brings people to. I can't believe that after all the things we see about not buying puppies or dogs from people like that there are people still doing it; very sad.

GREAT NEWS!!!!! All your prayers have been answered yet again. Nadia got "clear" results on her PET scan today. We are SO relieved with this news. although they still need to determine why her AFP (tumor marker) continues to rise, there is NO evidence currently of the recurrance of cancer.
The family is definatley going to enjoy this Christmas and they also have a trip planned from Make a Wish to Disneyworld in Florida that they get to take in January.
Nadia will go back in January too to have another blood test run to see where her numbers are. We are continuing to pray for another miracle and the numbers be back to "normal".
In the meantime.....here are some pics of the "kids". I will have more to follow soon. Some of them are from this summer.
Julie and I just got back from Baltimore filming the commercial. It was scary, but they said that we did ok. I think it will be shown sometime the first of January. They said they would send me a DVD of the whole shoot and then they will send Jeff and I a copy of the commercial. I do not know where the commercial is going to "test" so please if any of you se it, please let me know. Merry Christmas to everyone!!

I actually got an e-mail from a friend of mine today that, I don't think, quite appreciated the humour. He called the card "irreverant" and I don't think he quite meant that in a cute way. He is quite religious and maybe felt I shouldn't make booty jokes about this holy season.
Oh well, most people have gotten a kick out of it. Even my dad's 70-year-old lady friend called tonight to say that she thought it was "funny as all get out!"

She finally ate a tiny bit but then threw up twice, make that 3 times

she still won't eat dog food, either dry or canned. Also won't eat a small piece of chicken. I finally gave her a very small treat. She ate it but then threw up about a minute later. Then did the same thing about an hour later. And I finally got her to go out around 10 pm, but she stopped to drink some water, went out and peed, then came back in and threw up the water. Even tho she's not holding things down, she doesn't otherwise act like she is sick.

it's a good thing that Clovis has a big scar, that means they removed excess to get clean margins in case it's malignant. Poor Ollie had to go back for a second surgery because the vet didn't suspect MCT and he had to take a lot more tissue after the path report came back.
and wow, it was big. I'm amazed dogs are not in a lot of physical pain after surgery like this, or even more routine surgery like neutering and spaying.

I am doing better today, I got out some and did a few things that I had not been able to do. My arm is healing some. It is really weird! Where the worst of the infection was and the wide line up the inside of my arm into my arm pit....not only does it ITCH like crazy (and that part isn't even the initial wound location!), it is BRUISED all the way along that infection route:-( Not a big wide bruise, but a long, winding one about an inch wide and 6 inches long. The muscle is still swollen but not hot and red, but it is also bruising! I have never seen that before in all my life!!

To attack my Doberman girl. I got bit in the right arm pretty badly and then it got infected. I went to the ER doc on Tuesday and got a monster shot of antibiotic, then again Wednesday. I dodged having to get one yesterday though!! I am on heavy antibiotics to get rid of a bad bacterial infection.
Thanks for the howdy! I mailed your Christmas card out today....not sure that it will make it in time but I haven't been able to do much writing with my right arm the way it was this week!! Oh well, it's the thought that has to count this time!!
That sounds like a terrible infection! So glad to hear it is getting better. I think the itching is a sign of healing, so while not fun, it is probably a good thing.

Boy, I didn't realize how quick a person can get an infection going:-(. I will have to really watch if it happens again. Usually I am so careful about keeping wounds clean...especially with my animals always being cut and gouged in some fashion or another! You'd think I would do the same for me:-)
Our bulldog club had their annual Xmas Party/Gift Exchange and I got a pair too! Althought they're super soft and comfy, they pick up ALL the dog hair...only downside.
"We" got a red pair for xmas last year (Bert did, but I wear them!), & bought a green pair (really for Bert this time:p )last month. Those jammies are WARM & COZY!!! Nacho likes to snuggle us in them. Old Navy also came out with xmas bully jammie pants, but they're not as cute or as comfy.
We've had light snow since early afternoon. Dolly was so rambunctious in the house this evening, I decided to take her out & try for a couple of pictures in the dark.
Dolly zoomed all around in the snow---just like a kid having fun with the first snowfall of the season.
We put some lights on our baby Blue Spruce in the front yard. It's a little Christmas tree just the right size for Dolly.

I've gone to Petco and Pet Smart, and they really only have a decent selection for small to medium dogs. Our bullies have wide chests and thick torsos. The little Macintosh (it's adorable) that I used for Tiffy doesn't fit Maddie cuz she's thicker around the middle, and I don't want her to be uncomfortable in something too tight. She likes to go out in the yard and walk around, and it's been getting into the 30's some mornings. We tried human t-shirts with Tiffy and she HATED them.

I'm having somewhat of a comical time keeping Flynn away from the scar

before Clovis had her surgery, Flynn would often try to lick the spot. Since we got back from the vet, Flynn has tried to lick the sutured area. So I rolled up a piece of newspaper and swatted her butt one time. Since then, Flynn tried twice more to sneak in a lick. All I have to do now is pick up the newspaper and Flynn hauls butt like I've never seen before. Doesn't sound funny the way I just explained it, but it is very comical to watch.

When Clem had a tumor removed from his back leg, the incision was huge, it surprised me. The vet wanted to be sure to remove enough to have clear margins. Poor Clovis

I'm still in shock over the bill, especially since it's just a week before Christmas. This is my third cold winter in the row during which my central heating system doesn't work most nights, especially nights when the temp drops below 35 degrees. On Saturday night of last week, I went to Barnes and Noble just to get a couple hours of warmth. It's almost my third winter in the row wherein just as I was getting ready to call in the repair guy, I couldn't because I got hit with a huge bill of one kind or another. The timing has been bizarre each time, three times in a row. Almost as tho some little goblin is determined to make me stay cold each winter. Thank goodness I don't live up north.

it's pretty good at heating the bedroom but my family room is much, much bigger so I'm often chilly. The irony is that last weekend I saw a beautiful electric fireplace at Home Depot that sells for $498 (versus about $8,000 to fix the HVAC). It's just about the right size for keeping my family room warm. I was thinking about buying that but with a $700 vet bill today and $110 vet bill last Friday, that's out the window. And of course the temp is going down to 32 degrees tomorrow night. I may have to head back to Barnes and Noble to get some warmth.

Actually, he is VERY toned right now since Zoey and him insist on re-arranging the living room furniture every night after about 1 hour of chasing the soccer ball around! I had some guy come up to me last night and tell him what great shape he is in.....sometimes I worry cause he does not have an ounce of fat on him and he looks under weight. Vet told me to keep him really light cause of the bad hips and knees.....

the vet estimates 2.5 years old. as you know she was a rescue so based upon her vert examination it appears she was around 1.5 to 2.0 years old. I have had her since July, so her birthday is 7/7/07 in my book day. I am the lucky one in this deal. She is very solid, and cannot be moved if she doesnt want to, lol. she is buuuull headed when she wants to be. J & T

As I told some friends yesterday, she just keeps cracking me up with her bizarre antics. She stretches and lies down contentedly after she poops. She's such a whack-a-doo.

OK, so sometimes she cracks me up... but she's VERRRRY barky. I'm totally not used to it! She barks at me if I don't pay 100% of my attention to her at all times. It's very hard to work on...
But her little lips are so dang cute when she does.
I am in the same boat as Lisa. My hours were cut this year to less that 5 hours a day and Raven's vet bills in the last 2 weeks are over $2500. No Xmas cards or gifts this year. My best friend's Bullmastiff is 10 1/2 yrs old and has torn his ACL. Due to his age and finances, surgery is not an option. She would like to know if there is a "hollistic" approach that she can take in treating him. Is anyone familiar with Arthro-ionX? I appreciate any advice you may have. She truly wants to keep him as comfortable as possible. Thank you!!
I know that some tripawd dogs end up with hip/knee issues due to the extra strain when the front leg is removed. Some have had good success with braces helping the effected joint.
We had the Chicago English Bulldog Meet-Up this past Saturday and had a local TV station there filming. Deuce had a little more air time than Oliver. Deuce is the 2nd bully you will see and he is also the one that gets really close to the camera. He is red brindle and white with a black harness. You can only see Oliver for a second and it is when the one bully is chasing the water dish. Oliver is red and white also with a black harness on. The TV station did a really cute job.
And it is a good thing he is. He is in the pool with the dogs the entire time. There are some bullies that will stay in that pool the entire time! Also, lots of bullies come with their lifejackets on Ours have never tried to get in the pool, they don't seem to have any interest in it....which is fine with me!!
Deuce is the 2nd dog you see, he is the one that walks right up into the camera. He is red brindle and white with a black harness on. Oliver is just on for a split second. Again in the beginning you will see the dog playing with his water dish, Oliver is off to the side. He is red and white also with a black harness on.
Deuce is at 00:18-00:19 and 00:23-00:25.
Oliver is at 00:30, he is the one to the right with the black harness on.

and I like it a lot. It can do way more than I know how to do, but I also went to the bookstore and bought the Photoshop Elements 5.0 For Dummies and it has helped a lot.
I love the program and it wasn't the most expensive, not sure how much it is these days. You can check the prices on the Photoshop website I believe.
I have never used Photoshop Elements because I have the regular Photoshop, but I heard it's really good especially for casual use, plus the price is pretty reasonable. It is supposed to have a lot more functionality than a lot of the other image editing programs.
Watch this video till the end. I started taking it while she could not get comfortable and kept adjusting my Christmas rug all around and then at the very end she decides to PEE on it!!! Mind you, she did NOT have to pee (she just went out an hour before)... she just FELT LIKE IT!!! What a lil brat, huh?!?! LOL! But you can't help but laugh! I just think it's funny that I actually caught it on video!!!
It soaked thru to the rug underneath too... which is dry clean only! What was I thinking buying a dry clean only rug with a bully in the house, right? hahahaha!!! Naughty girl indeed!

I did indeed need a "hand"!! I am trying to get the last of my Christmas cards written and until last night I couldn't lay my right arm on any surface for more than a few seconds:-(. Today it is much better and I am gonna get busy doing all the stuff I have had to let slip!!
I was worried more about this particular infection going to my heart...I have a Mitral Valve Prolapse and any bacteria can do me lots of damage:-( That is why we so aggressively went after this infection....my Doc was not a happy camper about it all!!!

My TB mare is a National Federation Of Dressage mare. She is 3rd or 4th level, but I am not even 1st level!!! I trail ride with her and she is the most lovely mare I have ever seen. Her heart and her will are so huge, she endears herself to all she meets:-)
Her front wound is almost all the way healed. Miracle in itself right there! No muscle damage, no big scar. Amazing.
Her hind is a different story. I am still wrapping it every other day. Still fighting proud flesh. No skin growth but what is peeled off with the bandage every time I remove it. Where the vets excised the skin it fused the edge and skin regrowth there will be difficult at best, impossible at worst. I am looking at skin grafts more than likely unless God intervenes and grows that skin back over the wound. I am actually taking a dry off break right now and came in to check my email/BDW for a minute before I go bandage her up again.
In viewing both videos I noticed the grey mare using her tail (for balance?) more than the black stallion did. Does this have any effect on the way the performance is scored?
Another thing I noticed, and I feel strongly that this transfers to any animal that 'works' (horse, dog,cat) - good structure allows the animal to do these extreme maneuvers, where an animal with poor structure would find it difficult or impossible to preform.
Many of the terms used for parts of a dog and descriptions of movement are taken directly from those used for horses.
Several of my friends had a discussion on this with this mare. Normally, we would interpret it as her being aggrivated or struggling, but we agree she is the acception. I just think it's nervous energy with her concentration level. I don't know about dressage scoring, but I don't think she was marked down for it...

Pain, irritation, attitude. But this girl is mostly just using it for balance and sheer concentration. Her head set is perfect, no pain visible, no irritation visible. She is almost perfect in my opinion!

this was actually posted on the Front & Finish yahoo group - the person who posted it was compairing this team work of horse and rider to that of the heeling of the dog and handler team who won the NOI recently
but i can understand how it can put a damper on things! back home in MD they are calling for 6-12 in. over the weekend and snow again on Christmas Eve! thats what I would love for it to snow on Christmas Eve!!!!
she is having surgery this morning to have the spot (mast cell neoplasia) removed from her hip. I am hoping that it is benign. Thanks.

This is his latest girlfriend Hippo. She is a bullmastiff puppy owned by one of the trainers at the boys' day care and will be in her first dog show in the Spring. She loves playing with Stosh and pulling on his bully wrinkles.
and another aw, how I miss a clean white bulldog face! I guess we have traded in that area. Cain is a mess! Ever since we closed up the house for winter, my boy is pink and brown My vet says it is nothing to worry about it is just typical "bulldog stuff" but he is no where as white as Stosh is anymore.......
I want to thank each and everyone of you who sent cards. They were all awesome, and my Husband said that I am a slacker becauswe we didn't do the holiday card pisture with the dogs. NEXT YEAR!!!! But again thanks for them all, they were a very bright spot in my day!!!!
