Amy and Sophia, stop buggin me

hey you. So, are you riding a horse as you are reading this post, maybe folding laundry while riding? LOL
First camping trip at about 4 months of age - all tuckered out from exploring:
Taken recently, while snoozing in his doughnut bed (fed up with Momma taking pictures):
Sorry, I STILL can't figure out how to resize the pictures from Photobucket. If anybody is willing to give me ANOTHER tutorial, I promise I will try really hard to get it! : )
Thanks, lol. Bernie is always squishing up his face when he gets comfy. I'm pretty technologically challenged, so I don't even know what you mean when you say IMG CODE. What I do is upload pictures from my camera to my computer using Google Picasa, then I upload them to Photobucket from Picasa. When I type the message in BDW, I open the Photobucket and click and drag the photo into the message text box. I've tried resizing the pictures in Photobucket using the edit then resize option - doesn't make a difference. I've tried to copy and paste the picture by right clicking on the mouse. It copies, but when I try to paste, the "paste" option is "greyed out". I'm pretty hopeless!
Make sure that when you copy the code you are not copying from the thumbnail view. Same thing happened to me at first. You have to open the pic first and copy the code from that view. Hope that helps! Cute pixs!
She's SUCH a sweet puppy. SO docile and innocent... (pic)

NOT.
I went outside to take a couple pics of a few things in the outside light since it's dark in my house, and I got a WHOLE lotta 'tude.
(And she didn't make that hole... Grover used to scratch on the door to go out when he saw a squirrel. LOL! Gotta swap it out for the storm door asap!)
Chester was a brat when he was little and now he's a big brat! He barks at us when we don't do what he wants, he's so funny. She looks like a real character.
OMG........ it's so funny... Peggy-Sue actually RUNS
by
after me when she sees her 'new' food coming !!!!
Now remember ... Peggy-Sue is 9 1/2 years old and there isn't much that gets this girl excited anymore. She prefers to sleep, sleep, move to a new spot and sleep some more but this new diet the Vet recommended has got her going !!!
Berkeley AND Peggy-Sue love it and it's so easy to prepare !!
Boil up some brown rice, add any green leafy vegetables (brocoli is great) and then mix in raw minced (ground) meat.
I got a mix of lamb and chicken from our butcher and just spooned in through the rice and veges. ( I did blend the veges first ..spinach and brocoli so they couldn't pick around it)
Berkeley & Peggy-Sue LOVE it !!!!
After feeding imported kibble (Natural Balance or Eagle Pack) that costs a fortune by the time it gets down here to Austrlia for years my 2 are more than happy and I think it's got to work out cheaper too !! (bonus !!!)
Enjoy the rest of your Thursday guys. Friday the 13th is feeling mighty fine !! LOL
Well wooks wike dey cawt up to ya huh? How bout a banilla cake wiff a file in it? Hab you seen my brudder Hank...hes in da same mess but I'll leave him in dere fo awhile..

I am so excited because Bobo is finally going to the vet tomorrow. I have had him for 3 weeks and I can't wait to find out what I can do to help him! His poor itchy skin and smelly feet... I'll let you know what she says and thanks so much for all the help!
P.S. The comfy photos are so great. Here's Bobo's, I hope. Oh shoot, I don't know how to get it on here. I will keep trying.
girl with the same issues right now. i am going dowwn the ivermecton road and grain free diet. also if you use photobucket just cut the url and paste into the body of the message. i finally figured that out after i tried upmteen times to get my photos on here. J & T
I thought I did but I can't find it now...and it made me realize we seem to be obsessed with our bully's butt! She is monkey butt when she runs; dirty, or stinky, butt when she's done pooing and needs her butt washed, sleepy butt when she just doesn't want to get out of bed in the morning.
does onlsow typically get a little snack of whatever you guys are eating? i really try to stay away from the carbs with Josie but that big hippo head gets a little of anything i eat, aside fronm the obvious poisonous stuff. does he do well with people food? J & T
not with chili. That would kill US. But I make jokes anyway to make Dave laugh.
If we have vegetables or healthy meat he will get a taste (not a whole plate or anything just a piece). He has no problem with people food, in moderation - and only gets some if he sits and waits quietly. =)
gotcha, hippo head gets veggies and meat. once in awhile i give her a teaspoon of icream, or cereal if i am having some. i am the fortunate one, Josie throws no air biscuits!!
My Chow Chow, Manny Poo Bah, and his Lab/PB mix sister Petunia Mae literally tore my sofa to shreds one morning. I came into the living room after waking up and there was stuffing everywhere. Lucky me I got to go pick out new furniture, tee hee. Your Boy has been busy!!
did the right thing for Casey. She was in really bad shape yesterday. Casey was some what ok in the morning after her liver and potatoe meal and then at 3 pm started with the seizures again, even while on her medication. She had 4 seizures yesterday and the last two were real bad ones. Casey just wasn't responding to anyone any more. All of us, Patty, me, and my son decided that letting her go to Sonia was the best thing for her.
We will miss that crazy little Boston.

You all will be in my thoughts and prayers at such a difficult time. I know Casey is restored to health and playing with her mommy Sonia. God Speed sweet girl.
Sorry to hear that. I was wondering if the tropical storm was affecting you.

My cup runneth over... some Betty Cuteness this morning

I honestly am overwhelmed this morning with gratitude for all the support and to God for sparing me the grief that so many endure. On tripawds.com, where they've been so helpful and Raven has his blog, 4 of the tripawds lost their battles yesterday. And here Casey and Jax. I honestly thought that I would be losing Raven and/or Betty in this last few months.
Raven is doing well, actually about 90% the same as he was before this whole thing started. Eating, running, accompanying me at choretime. The doctors concur that they cannot see any metastasis in his xrays, so it looks very good that he will be fine. Betty is the happy, healthy snuggler she was before the spleenectomy.
You know how happy it makes you to see you dog enjoy a snooze in the sunshine, or play with a toy you bought? I want God to know that I fully embrace the gifts He's given me in these little creatures, so that He can look down at me content and fulfilled as I am.
Here's Betty from this morning. Couldn't grab the video camera, but she was doing her happy "roll in the hay" in the Dog Couch.

Audrey was always a spunky girl when she saw other dogs, but when she was 10 mnths old she was attacked by a HUGE German Sheperd at a dog park. That was close to 2 months ago. She really wasn't hurt (thank God for those neck wrinkles!) but since then she attacks every single dog she sees. Doesn't matter if it's a 100 pound Rott or a 5 pound yorkie, she goes after every one. I have been taking her to training classes at PetsMart, I love the trainer there and she takes in agressive dogs from rescues to rehabilitate them, but I was just wondering if any of you have bulldog specific advice? She has not had many bulldogs in her classes. Audrey loves people and never has any agression towards humans. She actually did very well in obediance training, stubborn as she is.
That's such a wonderful picture. She's beautiful! What a trauma for her to get attacked like that! Somebody will have some good training advice for you here. I don't have the answer but going to a training class seems like the right thing to do.
I hope you don't mind me bombarding you with questions. The one thing that has me the most curious is about her size. Everyone looks at her and says she is so tiny! I am not worried about it, I certainly don't think her growth has been stunted, but the only think I have to go by is what's written in books. According to the standard she seems to be just the right size, 15" at her shoulders and 42 pounds at 11 months, but people say Oh no a female will get to be 60 pounds! There is no way she's going to get that big! What is the norm for females? If I was interested in showing bulldogs, would I look for a 60 pound female or would I stick closer to the standard? I am not going to show Audrey, mainly because she is my baby and I will get prickly if someone tells me she is not the most perfect bulldog they have ever seen. Then there is her aggression issues, which I will ask in a new post.
Oh, and she is not spayed yet. First, I wanted her to grow naturally, and second I am terrified of doing irreparble damage to my perferctly healthy dog. I do realize that my fear is a bit irrational, and I am 95% certain she will be spayed within the next month.
Thanks so much! I seriously feel like a kid in a candy store with all these bulldog brains to pick!
Our girl, Maude, is 58 pounds; the vet would like her to lose about 8-10 pounds and we are working on this. One of the things I have learned over the past couple of years from all of the great people on this site is that there is a wide variety of sizes in bulldogs. I think Audrey looks great.
my Bella is almost 3 and 55 pounds, but her mom was only 45.. I think it depends on how..
by Chrissy
much they eat but 45-55 is average and healthy weight, I think some people are so use to see huge 70-80 pound bullies they think they all should be like that.. she is beautiful.. Bella is my first bulldog and I seem to keep learning every day..
Weights 44 lbs and is a bit on the short side too. It just depends on the lines that the dog has. Some tend to be bigger than others and I personally like them closer to the standard
Bulldogs aren't really mature until about age 2 so she'll probably bulk up some yet & get a bigger look. Dolly will be 5 in January & weighs about 50 lbs. The vet always wants her to lose weight but I think she looks proportional & I like the full figure look for a Bully girl!
Cathy,
Chloe seems about the size as your little one. I always think she looks small compared to other bullies... I'll have to measure her at the shoulder tonight and see how tall she is.
that is a Champion, and she is 3 years old and a whopping 43#!!! It never hurt her in the specialties at all under the breeder judges, she finished with 2 - 5 point majors.
I have another girl I am currently showing.....she is probably about the same weight, and has 2-5 point specialty majors, and a 4 point major...
So I think at times they can get overlooked, but not if a judge knows the standard. Does that mean that a bigger bitch won't win at times?? No....it just means that is what the judge liked on that day.
...very pretty girl! I'm partial to red brindles, too--my girl, Chubbs, is red brindle--and just about the exact same size as your girl. My other girl, Pip, a red/white piebald is also around that size. Yes, it IS the standard, but there are many, many bulldogs who go well over the "perfect" size. My boy, Gabe is a hefty 65# & about 17.5" tall, so he's on the larger size (much larger than his mother, Pip, and even larger than his sire)
At 11 months she's not going to grow much more--mainly just fill out in the shoulders/head a bit more. Congrats on your beautiful girl & glad to have you join us here!
siblings. Next time maybe we will have time to visit him. now that faye is grow up more, she isnt all that much smaller than him. They were alot more successful than i at taking weight off him for his front leg issues. Thank goodness and he has his new brothers and sisters who keep him very busy! he thinks he is a K-9 dog now! Its hilarious to see him obey commands in Czech and German.
That pic of Oy cracks me up. He should had been named Hef! Ohh Samson, he was a living Teddy Bear. You can see his personality in those photos, such a sweet little guy he was
There's little or no time after TG & suddenly it's Christmas! I've got some shopping done & some presents wrapped. I goofed up though & wrapped a gift for one of the grandkids & now I can't remember what it is. LOL I guess I'll have to unwrap it & look. This is what happens when you get old! haha
It's nice to see everyone as well. I am trying to post and check in more often. I just need to get some new pics of my crew so I have something to share. Nice to see everyone as well.
HI! My name is Cathy and I just found this website. I am excited to get an opportunity to talk to experienced bulldog lovers! I got my first bulldog last January, and still consider myself a new owner. Her name is Audrey Hepbull, she is 11 months old and the absolute joy of my life. I won't post my million and one questions immediately, but will say that I am very appreciative of any advice and help I can get.
She is so cute. I'm glad you found us, you will never be able to stop learning here. I have been visiting this website for 9 years and I'm still learning things Looking forward to more pics of your baby.
My kids think I am crazy and have finally accepted that they have been replaced by Audrey. I keep telling them that the reason is because she doesn't talk, and they should follow her example, but so far they keep insisting on talking!(They are 24, 18 and 15 years old)and look at Audrey's baby picture! How can anyone compete with that?
Scare this morning with Sophia...the little stinker:-)

Wow, talk about having your heart leap into your throat all of a sudden! Listen to what my naughty little girl did today!
I walk the dogs first thing each morning then feed horses, then come to my office for a little early morning work. This morning my office smelled funky so I opened the patio door and closed the door into the rest of the house so the dogs wouldn't come in. I am sitting peacefully in my office watching my horses eat their breakfast when suddenly my big TB mare runs toward the pasture fence with ears up and tail high. Then my big gelding goes to look at whatever my mare is seeing. I just glance out the window thinking it is probably the deer that frequent my pasture. Out the window I see a dog though. MY DOG!!! It was Sophia, my car chasing, horse attacking, water loving Sophia. God knows how the little poop got out of this house unless she took off out my patio door before I even got the other door closed. There she is, muddy and wet from playing in the pond, and running RIGHT AT the horses that will kill her should she try to do anything to them. I am in my slippers (my brand new cute fuzzy ones to be exact that have no heel and are dang near impossible to walk in without them falling off) but I took off like a mad woman to the pasture, running through horse poop and dog stuff and stickers and mud to get to Sophia before she gets to the horses. I won the race, but she wouldn't come to me! She ran to the fence line and tried finding a hole to go through!! I finally pretended I had a piece of cheese (she simply can't resist cheese!) and she came right to me. I grabbed her up and brought her into the house and fully plan on never letting her near my office again!!!
Well, I have had my cardiac workout for the day:-) I'm thankful she didn't drown in the pond or get kicked by a horse or run to the road and get hit by a car. God was watching over my baby this morning:-)
You might be worn out but probably Sophia is too---naptime for the rest of the day for her. How did your fuzzy slippers hold up??? All's well that ends well!
I thought I was the only one that did this! I think I've abused the trick, Betty and Raven both still stare hard, but won't move their feet, thinking "She doesn't REAALY have any..." and call my bluff.
Glad Sophia hasn't caught on. I know the terror of seeing them head toward my horses/cattle, it's like watching your disobedient child head toward traffic on a freeway. So helpless.
Glad it all turned out okay!

Then I scolded her all the way to the house!! Man, she had my heart pumping for sure. Since my horse was injured all of my herd react to every threat. Be it dog, deer, house cat, they react to it. They are still spooky about anything roaming around on the property.
We have decided that it was a cat that got my mare, but it wasn't attacking, it had to have been coming through the property on foot and spooked out the sleeping herd, then defended itself when my mare turned at it. She was up against a fence and would have had to turn into the open area behind her, which is when it attacked. I don't believe, and neither do the wild animal guys, that this was an intentional attack at all. Just a wrong place, wrong time deal for all concerned. There are too many prints of a big cat that were documented the days following and they have had two other attacks reported in our area recently, though those were intentional and from a high vantage point. In one case the horse was killed, the other is recovering. Also, lots of baby cows at this time of year and lots of ranchers reporting missing babies. Whatever it is, it is fat!!!
Of you hightailin' it through the pasture in your fuzzy slippers! LOL
Sheez - so glad Missy Sophia is OK! The things these dogs do to get our hearts jumpstarted, huh? I can hear the grey hairs popping out, Ames.
Hey.... what are you doing up at this tme of day !!
by
It's 6.30am Friday down here and I'm sitting here in the peace and quiet with my big mug of Tea !! great you can join me !!!!!
Berkeley seems a LOT better, we have been making him stay outside the kitchen glass sliding door (still open) for about 4 hours a day and giving him the oils and immune boosting capsules from the et. We honestly haven't heard his breathing like it was at all and so far are VERY VERY happy with his progress !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) I love that boy !!)
Give Sophia a big 'Aussie' hug from me & Berkeley please !!
well NOW that I guess no blinking lights on my xmas tree cause of deaf bully Gus. I can see it already..if the lights are blinking it was be taken down by him..lol for sure or attacked..hahhaha
but what about the rest of the things around the house
got lots to put up here..
but with Bella and the pugs being soo active...lol
gotta wander what will happen to all this..hahhahaha
what are your thoughts on the dogs and xmas decorating??
my friend put a fence around her tree so her dog would not get into it at all..
few things I do know for sure..
NO candy canes..real ones..MY boston stole as many as she could get off the tree years ago..
NO presents under the tree..had a pug the one year open a gift to my son..a new fleece sweater..and slept on it.lol
5 dogs and Christmas I think will be a fun experience..
just want to keep it that way..will they think all the decorations are toys.
LAST YEAR...the biggest issue was Gus. he would run under the tree in circles..and circles..no idea why he did that
MY dogs all of them..are much much more active this year then last year. even though last year they were younger.
maybe they will settle more in the next year..lol
glitter ornaments must be higher than the bulldog's nose, otherwise he gets glitter all over his face.
Bear could care less about the tree, presents underneath, etc. He goes over, sniffs and walks away. We are going to get pine scented pine cones if we can find them, and I'm gonna cram some way inside the tree so it smells like a real tree. He may start sniffing more but he won't bother anything. It's odd that we have a huge pine tree out front but the cones don't smell. What's up with that?
The only thing you should never do is put wrapped treats under the tree. And keep any expensive decorations up out of their reach.
Sue
All photos are my property and cannot be used without permission !!
I guess you guys call what we term 'minced meat' as 'ground'
The meat I got from the butcher was lamb & chicken minced together, you can see tiny pieces of chicken bone in it but they are very small and my 2 had no trouble at all with them. (small as a finger nail)
Talk about EASY to prepare and as I said in my earlier post............................. they LOVE it !!
My little girl Casey crossed the Rainbow Bridge last night.
I did have some comfort knowing that her 2 legged mommy, my wife, will be at the bridge waiting for her.

My heart breaks for you Oleh. I am so sad to read that Casey crossed the bridge. But I know her mommy was waiting there for her with open arms. Hugs to you and Stanley, I know this is hurting you both.
Oleh, I am so, so sorry for the loss of your little girl. Casey was as much a part of BDW as any of the bulldogs. I know your heart is breaking and she will be missed terribly.
Oh goodness, I am so incredibly sorry to hear that Casey crossed over

I'm sending my sincere sympathy. I always loved seeing Casey on the board. I grew up with Bostons & seeing Casey's bright eyes always took me back to happy memories I had of our Bostons. God's Peace...
I know that she will leave a big hole for you and Stanley, but I do know that Casey ran happily into your wife's arms at the rainbow bridge. My thought and prayers are with you.
We never like to hear this type news. You have our prayers for comfort and strength. Remember the good times because now they become treasures. God's peace!
I'm so sorry Casey is no longer with you, but I know she had a long, wonderful life with you. I know she will be missed very much by you and Stanley.
RIP sweet girl!
Speaking from experience, it is doubly tough when you lose a pet that was dear to a person that has already departed. Yes, there is the comfort that they are reunited (and I DO believe this), but it's sort of like losing a little piece of them, leaving us behind.
Stay strong and lean on Stanley in your grief.

may you find comfort in the memories you and Stanley shared with her..thanks for sharing her with us too! Give yourself a hug from me, and please give Stanley a head scratch from me...
in your loss of Casey. We all know how much she was loved, and now your wife will be there waiting to take her on the other side and they will have the comfort of each other till you meet them again one day.
you beat me again! i gotta get this work crap outta the way!! lol

hope all is well. been beautiful here!!
have it good! playin' the oldies this morn!
good thing for electric blankets!! i think bruno wants a snuggie!! hey you must need one too!!!got a big day today? robbie is coming tonight after work and spending the night. havent seen him for quite awhile so thats good. have a great and wild day I think?
as he throws up so much, would be nice to see him too, I sometimes drive over there and get to see him. rob has him trained well and he is loose when he is outside, they live pretty far out in the woods too. but do have some houses around.
and Tillie Mae Hope you ladies have been well! Nothing new going on over here, just getting ready for the Holidays and the cold weather.
Hey- do you know where Lynn K ran off to? I haven't seen her in so long. I hope she is alright. If you talk to her let her know we miss her around here!
With Dozer getting OCD in his shoulder and us wanting to make it easy on him by not making him go up and down stairs til we move i was looking at potty options since we have a large 2nd story patio on our apt. I found this from a company i've ordered toys from before. What do you guys think of this?
http://www.fetchdog.com/pet-supplies/housetraining/alldoghousetraining/portable-dog-potty/B30028
Does this seem ridiculous or would this be a good idea? Carrying him up and down a full flight of stairs everyday 2-3 times a day will get old fast at 65lbs.
