INTRODUCING.....!!!!! **PIX**
by
So first the back story:
I was at the dog park the other night with Dixie Bones, and a guy comes up to me with his pitbull and he starts to pet Dixie and he tell me "My friend's got a dog just like that, but he is moving into an apartment and can't take him" I immediately make him call him friend, if not for me then to at least put him in contact with rescue.
After talking to him I get him to meet me with his bulldog, and I have Dixie, they get along like gang busters. So I told him we would take him off his hands.
and to make a long story a little less long we are proud to introduce!!!!!:
Doughnut Martinez!!!, his original name is Gizmo but he does not answer to it so we are going
This is after a much needed bath
he is a year and 8 months!! born April 14th 2005 he came to the US from Columbia while his previous owner was down there on vacation
Here he is with Dixie at the dog park:
after a long long walk to tire them out!!
and another shot of him after his bath!!!
he is a dream to walk and handle, we walked for several blocks off leash and he will not leave mine or Erica's side. His previous owner loved him but did not understand the care required for a bulldog, as his wrinkles were full of garbage and he has terrible tear stains and his ears are very dirty. He also needs to loose a good 7 or 8 lbs I have not weighed him as of yet to see how much he does weigh though
He was very cooperative while in the tub just stood there, then I cleaned out his wrikles and ears, he is out like a light with Dixie on the couch:

Happy Holidays from:
Carlos, Erica and Dixie Bones
What a handsome fellow! So glad to hear that he and Dixie have taken to each other so well! That always makes things easier. Have fun with your two beautiful bullies!
I am so happy he is with you and Erica. I think Dixie will be a great big sister. She looks so content and happy with him. Great story and such a happy ending.
that's is soo great! Dixie Bones is gonna have a brother... Congrats to you, Erica and Dixie - that's one LUCKY bulldog to have been adopted by your family!!!! He's a cutie for sure!
I had a feeling you guys were some kind of special. Oh, man; a free bulldog just for making a phone call. SCORE!!!! Hats off to you guys and congratulations. Looks like Doughnut feels right at home. Wow, talk about an early Christmas present. Nicely played, dude and dudette!! Anything else in life is just gravy now.
How wonderful that he is with you!! Dixie must be so happy to have a playmate
Can't wait to meet him, and by the way he shares the same birthday as Zimmer, Doughnut is just younger. We'll have to have a birthday party on the beach for both of them.
Well, that made my day! Thank you for opening your hearts and home!!!!
by
Yay! Even though he seems very passive and calm, I'd still limit his house access privileges for a few weeks- especially when you are away. He's in that "perfect dog" honeymoon stage right now while he tries to figure you out. Can't wait to hear about and see more of him. He's adorable-- as is Dixie Bones.
HELP !! i donot knw how to stop this !!! Every picture I have s caevd SOMEHWNERE on this conputer 2 or 3 ties. This coudl mean as many as 40,000 pictures an files that are slowing me down. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My computer is going SLOWer and s-l-o-w-e-r ....
and as I browse I see that everty single photo I have ever changed ... resized, renamed, even delted ... is copied, and there are copies of copies of copies .. likewise with all my documents ... copiess ad nauseam. And then as I attempt to delete them, those buggers just show up again - as a copy of the copy of the copy of .....I donlt even mean they are listred as "backups" .. they are copies or, etc. ohhhhhhhhhh. Like I NEED this !
I wish I could help, but all I can do is explain what happened. when you close the file, or the picture and the little box shows up saying..."do you want to save the changes"....you are making a copy. the picture will be placed at the end of the file, so they are not always together, and you won't realize it is there until you need to look for something.
you could save each folder to a disc, and delete the empty file, and start all over, but that woould probably take even longer.
Which pictures do you need? Maybe some BDW people have them here, and could email them to you?
it's that I can;t get rid of the copies of them !
It thgouth I was smart adn changing my view to list and then deleting the ones that say "copy".I must have 10 copies of some pictures !! Thisis maddening !! I ran a thorough virus scan after an update .. I do that regualrly anyway.
The compuer is going OUT that window !!
I got one on Ebay a few weeks ago too. I didn't do searches for you (was at work and god forbid, I had to WORK) but if you'll tell me what you searched, I'll try to help find it.
I've no a very low spirit meter right now, and I have no idea why. I thought it was because Thanksgiving fell so early and I just had to wait until the calendar flipped to December. We went and got our tree today, and we haven't even decorated it yet... feh. Just not as Christmassy as I usually am! Hopefully tomorrow. Moops will inspire me!
that magazine...just the page was being sold at one of the dog shows this year. I believe it was the PCBC specialty. There was a woman in the hall who had scrapbooks of old Bulldog clippings and that ad was in one of them. I will try and find out her name. I think maybe Courtney with Teddy may know who she was.
My mama layze out da cloff fer me to waller on too! I wuv's it but she sez I'ze in da way! What else is it on da floor for if not for me to way on??? BYW, you should chewz da sof-grip handle of her pinkin' shears if you'ze can find 'em - I did it, and mama 'sploded like a firecracker wiff 4-letter words! Was better 'n TV!!!!!
for my daughter's friend Kevin..thank you so much. I am heartbroken to say that he passed away a few hours ago. Olivia is devastated.
Please...hold your kids extra close, and always keep an open line of communication with them. Suicide is devastating, and there is no certain "type" of person that dies that way. I've talked to people that have lost an 8 year old child that way, and someone that lost a parent in their eighties. It is much more prevalent than people realize, and it is heartbreaking.
I'm sorry for the bad news. Just please..hold the ones you love extra close.
Please know that I am praying for you and your daughter. What a waste the ending of his life is. So many years, and so much he could have lived for. I am heartbroken for you my friend, and for your daughter, but especially for this boys' family, who will have to live with his decision. For them, it will last forever in their hearts and minds. So prayers for that family also..
The kind words are very much appreciated. Olivia and I have a close relationship..she was seeing a doctor after my husband ( her stepdad) died by suicide over 1 1/2 years ago. She is a great kid, and has learned to open up and not keep her feelings inside. She also knows that if Kevin's girlfriend expressed any suicidal thoughts, that no matter what, she is to tell someone.
It is so much more difficult for teenagers in this day and age. No matter what anyone says, I really believe that they have so many added pressures/stress in their life, it can simply be overwhelming.
I was trying to get some good pictures of the girls for my Christmas cards. Well, Morgan decided she did not want her pic taken, so she wasn't very cooperative, lol. Maizy suffered through and I was able to get a few good shots of her. It looks like only one of my girls will be on the cards this year.
Here are a few of the outtakes.
Morgan being a pain, lol
Just a couple of pics of Millie the day I picked her up
by
I thought these were just to cute to keep to my self. This was one of the best days of my life! I got to meet my breeder and her husband, they are just the nicest sweetest people! Nikki and Chuck, thank you both so much for this BEAUTIFUL sweet baby girl, and it was so nice to meet both of you, hope to do it again someday soon.
What a sweet thing to say about Nikki and her DH! And that baby you have? Absolutely beautiful!!! I am so excited that we get to watch her grow up some and see pics of her on the board!! Has Walter met her? I bet he falls head over heels for her!!
Wow Lynn! What a wonderful thing to say!! We really enjoyed meeting you and your husband
by
and I know you will be a fantastic home for Millie. Please keep us posted on her life and your also. We not only found a great home for our puppy, but made some wonderful new friends!! Thank you.
Gamestop.com only has the bundle for $649. The stores wil be getting a shipment either Monday or Tuesday. Walmart will start selling them again on the 6th. Nintendo has promised that there will be plenty for distribution for Christmas, not like the PS3 which will be next to impossible to get. If you have any questions please feel free to email me. My advice is to not buy one from a private party for a marked up price since you will be able to get one with alittle work.
um Kris, I got your email and I live in Queen Creek
by
I sent you my phone # so give me a call. I work all day tomorrow like 10-10, but Monday I am free and I am going on my Wii quest. The guy at Gamestop has a crush on me so I get all the info!
Thanks. The sun is great, but I'd really like to see the seasons change. The heat really limits how long I can have Hatley outside and he's an athletic dog.
You should try getting the ball away from him......
by
He isn't aggressive at all, but he's no retriever either. I throw the ball, he runs it down, and then looks at me like "come and get it". Then I'll wrestle it away from him, throw it and it all starts over again. He's got me so well trained. I guess it's a bulldog thing. Chase them or wrestle with them; they just don't seem to want to bring anything back. I'd do it all day long with him if it wasn't so hot out.
For all of those who might be interested in a new plasma tv this x-mas...
by
I just ordered a 50" Vizio plasma tv on costco.com for 1,499.00. That price is a steal, and I have heard nothing but good things about the brand. We bought a 65" projection HDTV a year ago at costco, so we are returning it, and buying the new plasma, and getting 165 dollars back!!! Can't beat that : )
Just thought I would share, they are regu;ar;y 1699.00 but they have a 200.00 off coupon right now.
I love this image of the boys. It was taken Saturday morning by Cheryl Ziemke, a CPP (Certified Professional Photographer--only about 2500 worldwide have this certification). She also shot a family portrait that I'll post later.

We do get him groomed lots since he is at the range all week..

He gets pretty dirty. We found a great groomer where we got him trained so he is going to start going all the time. They do the oil treatments for their dry skin too.
If you havent already... Please vote for Peetie!!!

I entered him in a photo contest at www.photowow.com . Click on the "Photo contests" link. On that page, you can enter 40775 to get directly to Peetie!
You guys put him in 1st place! He is still in 1st place, but only by .25 of a point! We need all his bullie relatives support!
very bad day here for me My sweet boy would have been 9 yrs old today. This is the first time in years and years that there are no cupcakes, presents, musical plush cake that plays happy birthday.
And no photojam to make and send to Aunt Pat with that goofy birthday song that her and Luci would start singing in November
Happy birthday my sweet boy. Hope you are having a party at the bridge. Mommy misses you so much.
He is with a lot of wonderful furkids, Sue .. and there is a big party every day. I know you are sad that he's not with you, but today is the anniversary of one of the BEST days of your life !! So SMILE for SUMO !!! :O)
I'm sure Sumo is having a big birthday party with my sweet MiMi at the bridge. It will be 6 months on 12/12 that we lost her. MiMi will be 9 on 01/25 and I'm sure it will be a very tough day for me too. I understand what you are going through. They say in time things will get better. To be honest I'm still waiting. The pain of losing her is still as strong as it was the day we let her go. Hugs to you on Sumo's very special day. Happy birthday sweet boy !
I know how you must miss him...that's tough.
This is a good story...On Buster's birthday last June I had the best dream about him.
It was weird because I was really thinking about his birthday that day.
I had always wanted to dream about him after he was gone and never did.
It was so comforting to have that dream that I was with him again....and on his birthday.
I hope you see Sumo in your dreams tonight and can see him there.
((Take Care))
Thats so sad Sue, but a few days ago a read this:" Don't grieve for me, celebrate the beautiful memories..."
It was written in german, I tried to translate it, hope it's right.
Bye Sumo, have a GREAT party at the bridge with all your friends!
Suse & Lulu
Your Auntie Luci and I are still singing.. and have watched a couple of oldies of you... you get them all partying at the bridge.... i know you will... we miss you too....
this is a tough day for you, and I know the holidays are not going to be easy. Please know everyone here send you their love and support. I am sure Sumo is having a great party with Capone and Maggie and Winston and all the others that we have lost. Much love to you.
been swimming, but did really well kicking those little legs. The therapist had a life vest on her, of course. She was a bit freaked out at first, but then did fine.
I was just talking about Winnie today while making cookies and saying how great the water therapy is for dogs and telling about Winnie and how cute she looks in a vest and the little therapy pool.
I like the Canon D40 and a Sony model that ends with 505. Very nice. If you have a HDTV, also take a look at the new Canon HV10, but it's very expensive, tho you can get a much better price at www.bhphoto.com than in retail stores.

This is the newest member of the family, Bella! She is an adoptee from the Brevard County Humane society here in Florida. She's has the typical unfortunate past, but has adjusted well to a stable family life. She's a graduate of the "Paws ans Stripes" program here at the Brevard County Jail and went through an 8 week obedience course with her inmate trainer. He did a wonderful job!
She may not be a bulldog, but Brinks still in love! What an odd couple!
They never leave each others' side! They play ALL day long!
Anyway, we're thrilled to have her and Brinks is just as happy as can be! Thanks for looking!
I always enjoy seeing pictures of those tall thin dogs wrestling with Bullys. They look like they've already become the best of friends. What a great program!!
I'm messing around with this new camera that has a wide angel and panoramic feature, 2-3 shots then stitches them together.
I was intending them to be more choppy and artsy, but you can take shots where you can't tell it's 3 shots (see below)
Excuse the lighting here...just messing around
These were taken with the same camera last summer...you can't see the stitch lines here...
I love the one of the single bully in three stages of waking up, very cool!!
The house in the last picture, is that in Colorado by chance? There is a house that is almost identical here on one of the roads going up to Evergreen...
It's on an island (Island of Happy Days) on a lake. It's an old andirondack style lodge built in early 1900.
A summer home for a railroad tycoon and his family.
We got married there 7 years ago... http://www.stoutslodge.com/
I will have to get a pic someday of the house here that looks like that!
by
It is on a point where the river bends, and so three sides of the house are bordered by the river. It is a beautiful setting!! I just love going by that place. I will take pics for you to see someday. Uncanny resemblance!
but I always thought you were a "guy"!! Hard to tell on here sometimes...I thought Cody was a guy at first too.
That's so funny...Sorry!!!! I will use "she" from now on!
maybe this will make up for my blunder...
When I was in 2nd grade my Mom cut off all my hair into a "shag", which was really a pixey cut...showin' my age here
Tulsa flashback...I was at Skaggs Albertsons at the candy counter in my Hee Haw overalls and some lady called me a boy!
I cried for a week! And to this day I never let my Mom forget how she mentally scarred me for life be cutting my hair off.
Mom cut my hair off also!!
In school I was always called Mitchell, I get saleman's calling my house asking for Mitchell!! I'm used to it, but your the first on a message board!! lol
I guess it's the good TULSA education!!
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away.
My friends and I used to walk to Skaggs to the HUGE candy counter. They change the name around 10 years ago to Albertson's, it went out of business this summer.
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away.
Beyond the check out lanes....we would walk up there too.
I lived like 3-4 blocks from there around 57th and Memorial....across from Salk Elementary.
I think the store we went to was on 51st and Memorial.
I have a 1year old male and was given a 2 year old female My male wont leave her alone...And so she starts to attack him VERY aggressively....They are jealous...But also cant get male to stop buggin her...Any suggestions?
Obviously these 2 cannot interact together in a rational manner at the time being.
Is your dog neutered?
Is your bitch spayed? - Is she in heat? (Be it silent heat, split heat, reg heat cycle)
How did you go about introducing these 2 together for the 1st time?
Do they still act this way when both dogs are leashed and someone is holding them? Or do you just let them hang together in 1 room or the whole house to do what they please. And how are you putting a stop to this for the time being?
I sure wouldn't have them together in the same room at the same time.
Where did both dogs come from? (What type of home situation).
There is a list of certifieds dog trainers on the homepage that you can search by state.
Wishing you & your dogs only the best possible outcome, Kim
Considering a puppy, but is a Bulldog or Boston Terrier for me?
by
Hi guys, my name is Grant, I live in Oklahoma City. I have wanted a bulldog since I was probably 8 years old (I'm now 23). I finally have the money that I can afford one, but I am so nervous about it. I have had 2 boxers, my recent one is going to be 12 this summer. I absolutely love boxers, I think they are an amazing dog. But, as I said, I have always wanted a little bully. I think there is honestly not a cuter dog out there. My concerns are probably the same as everyone else's that has been a first time bulldog owner. The health problems. I read that they don't have that many if you buy from a reputable breeder, but then honestly I get on this website and see that there is post after post after post with health problems and questions. The main reason I am looking for a dog is for a close companion right now. My grandfather is dying and will probably pass away in the next couple days. I am crushed. We were extremely close, after my parents he is my closest relative. I have no siblings and no cousins that live near me, so I really only have my parents and my girlfriend to turn to and she works a lot and is in school, so I really want one of these little monsters to keep me up and happy. So, I get nervous thinking that I may have to deal with constant problems with a bully pup and that I would feel horrible for him as well. I've had to watch my grandfather basically wither away the past 2 months from Demensia among other things, so I can't handle watching a little puppy be miserable as well. I have also looked into getting another boxer or a boston terrier as well. My only concern about another boxer is that there is a chance I will be moving into an apartment sometime soon and they are quite active dogs. I feel that Sierra, my boxer, has been so healthy is because she stays at my parents where she has a huge amount of land to run around on. I personally think boston terriers are adorable and quite funny, and have always liked them as well, but I have been told by person after person that I will be dissapointed with how hyper they are. I have been told the oppostite by the boston terrier breeders of course though! So then I come to bulldogs. Cute, playful, lazy, funny, and able to live in an apartment setting easily. Everything I was looking for. So, what should my decision be? Should I go ahead and spend the money on the bulldog and just expect some bumps and problems along the way? Should I expect there to not be any problems really? Has anyone owned a boston terrier here? If so, what do you think compared to your bully? Thanks guys, any responses, info, advice, etc. will be appreciated!
I forgot to see if anyone on here is from Oklahoma or has purchased a bulldog puppy from Oklahoma and if so, from where? Does anyone have a breeder they know or recommend? Thanks.
Check the main page for breeders in OK. You will find a..
by
pretty comprehensive list of reputable breeders there.
A thought.... not all bullies are lazy. But it is true that they do not need as much exercise as a BT. Typically a quick walk around the block may suffice.
sorry to hear about your grandfather. My thoughts are with you and the family during this time.
That's a happy medium between a Bulldog and a Boston.
I think it always really depends on the dog. I've had 2 French Bulldogs that are a complete 180 from each other in personality and size and health.
I would get to know a breeder and especially the dogs.
Just do a lot of research and take your time and you will make smarter decisions, There's no guantee with any dog.
You're always going to read/hear more of the bad stuff that happens. What holds true is... no news is good news.
Good place to start is on this board. I know you will get better answers ...than this
Good luck!!
PS I lived in Tulsa fro 10 yrs, but that was 15 years ago
There is a Michell from Tulsa on this board.
He was posting yesterday...maybe he will answer or look for one of his posts and his email may be on there?
Sounds like you are doing your research before investing in a puppy. That's a good thing. There's lots of good info on the BDW home page about selecting a puppy & also a list of approved Bulldog breeders which may include some from your state. I grew up with Boston Terriers and that's what made me want a Bulldog.---I wanted the real thing! I loved the Bostons but I agree that they are much more hyper than a Bulldog. Personally I think you'd love a Bullie but then I think everybody in the world would love a Bulldog! Good Luck! Hope I see pics of your baby Bullie on BDW soon!
As for health, if you do your homework, ask lots of questions, and buy from a reputable breeder, you can expect a healthy bulldog.
Every breed is predisposed to certain health risks. For example, Boxers have a higher risk for cancer. So don't let what you have heard be a deterrent.
As for Boston vs Bulldog, there are others on this board that have both and will likely reply. The Boston is a "terrier" and will be a high energy dog.
Which ever breed you decide on, a dog is big committment and there will come a time when it needs medical attention...and you should be prepared for that emotionally and financially.
Yeah, I know that any animal is a commitment. Since about the age of 6 my family has had probably 20 animals at least ranging from potbelly pigs, to miniature goats, to rabbits, to dogs, to cats and they definately do cost money, no doubt. We had a chihuahua named Brutus that had 2 surgerys that I couldn't believe the cost of, but my parents insisted to have them done and he lived to be over 13 years old. I know I need to talk with more breeders. I have talked with several and found one that seems to be good. They are located in Pryor, Oklahoma. They have only been breeding around 3 years though, which I don't know if that is bad or not, but they have the health gaurantee, AKC registered, up to date shots and wormings, and a vet check. They are a family with children and look to keep the puppies and dogs well socialized. I asked them about any problems with the dogs they breed and they said the only thing that they have had is one case of cherry eye, which from what I understand isn't too big a deal and can be quite common. The only thing I thought was a little weird was that their puppies are only $1250 each. That is considerably cheaper then every other breeder around here, but of course I would love to save a little money, but I don't really know why they are nearly $1000 cheaper. I know that all bulldogs are not lazy. I do not expect my bully to just lay around all day every day. However when compared to my parents Jack Russel, bulldogs are lazy! What I really mean by that is that they do not technically require a large yard nor require 3-4 walks a day, etc. I am hoping I will be able to visit some of the breeders this winter and interact with their current puppies and adult dogs. Keep the info coming, I appreciate everyone that has responded thus far!
Just becuase someone dosen't want to put the effort into making a ton of money dosen't mean they have lesser quality pups! We got our girl for $1200 from a hobby breeder and haven't had the first issue!!! Our bully has a great pedigree and the breeder we bred her with was impressed we got her so cheap. Our pups will go on the low end because I don't want to spend the money advertising while the breeder will sell his at a MUCH higher rate. Same pedigrees, he has more resources. He even offered to sell the pups and split the amount with us. Does that mean they are better if he sells them? Don't think so!!! You should be checking the health of the parents, that will do more for you ten spending a ton of money on a higher price dog just becuase he cost more.
Where you trying to direct that at me or what? I think you missed the entire point of my question. No where did I say that I think the breeders selling puppies at a higher price were selling better pups. I was just saying that I simply noticed that the majority of the breeders in this area sell puppies for closer to $2000 and that $1250 was considerably cheaper, therefore I did not know if there was a reason. I think you did not understand what I was saying there. Anywase, thank you for all the helpful comments from everyone else, I will probably be getting a little male puppy this spring so that I can go ahead and get moved into my new place and get settled in before I bring him home. Thanks!
are different even within the breed. I would say go for the Bulldog if that is the dog you have always wanted. No regrets. Just like with kids, you can raise them the exact same way but they turn out completely different cause everyone and everydog has their own personality. As for the medical side, I agree, finding a reputable breeder that breeds for the betterment of the breed will decrease the medical problems but won't eliminate them. good luck, we LOVE our bully, he is very loveable and has his spurts of energy but they definately don't last as long as other breeds. My brother has a boston and his energy level is quite a bit higher. Just my opinion
First off, my condolences on your grandfather's situation. I've been there and I know that it's a tough time for him as well as you. We have owned (maybe I should say that we've been owned by them) both a Boston Terrier & Bulldog. I had Bubbles (the Boston) before Stew (my husband) and I met. I loved Boston, but most Bostons I know tend to be rather hyper and extremely active. Bulldogs for the most part are more sedate. Both Bostons and Bulldogs can do well in apartments. I also feel that both can have health issues. Bubbles (our Boston) had eye issues. Our Bulldogs have also had eye issues and some skin problems. I think the reality is is that any breed can have health issues.
I would recommend checking on this board as well as any similar boards for Boston Terriers; talk to both Bulldog and Boston Terrier breeders; and go to a dog show if there is one in your area. Oftentimes the Bulldogs and the Bostons are shown early on in the show. That would be a great opportunity to see several examples of both breeds; to meet owners of both breeds; and to talk and meet breeders of both breeds.
I don't think that you would go wrong with either breed. In fact my oldest boy wants a Boston Terrier but we have told him when it's the right time we'll get him a French Bulldog. Frenchies look a little bit like Bostons on steroids but do not seem to be as hyper. Maybe you should look at a French Bulldog as well?
I think you have thought about almost everything, concerning choosing a breed.
Off course I'll advice a Bulldog, but I'm biased. Bulldogs are more sedate than Boxers (I hardly know any Bostons), but only after about 18 months - 2 years. If you get a fairly healthy Bulldog, he'll need exercise, not too much, but up to 30 minutes each day, and then some separate little walks.
I assume you work a dayjob. How are you going to care for your puppy? Daycare? Asking a friend or familymember to come and walk him? Bulldogs do fine in apartments, but it is company they crave!
Bulldogs are a fine breed, but it is really important that you choose a good breeder, and take the time to wait for a litter. Don't go for that addie in the paper. I understand that you want that puppy (I've been there!), but please take your time!
find a good breeder with healthy lines and you will be very very happy

My grandfather passed 2 years ago. My brother came home who was going through his own battle with Cancer. I told him Grandpa passed away this morning, he sat of the floor and hugged and held our 3 bullies for ever. He didnt hug me or anyone else in the family just the dogs. THey let hime hug on them and didnt move, they knew he needed them.
I have 5 bullies in my house (well 7 but 2 are 3weeks old), 2 our bought and 3 i breed. 1 has had 1 large vet bill in 6 years, another who is my breeding and for me to care for had had some big bills too. Would i ever change any of them. NOT. The 2 i have had vet bills on i could have bought 1 bully for each dog with the bills. That is the risk you take with a bully. But i consider 1 surgery over 2k in 6years great. My others dont go to the vet. Holly will be 2 next week, and has only been to the vet for health exams. Breve' is 3.5 2 sections heath exams and bit by a bug and had face swelling. Bella 5 2 sections, health exams, breast lump removal and was sick after nationals 3 years ago.
I have alot of food and poop. Got rid of the carpet for pergo and would not change a thing.
Your question is a very interesting one to me. I have had four Boston Terriers. Our last one, Jiggs, is now 14 years old. I would not call any of our Bostons "hyper". They are intelligent, loving, eager to please, and easy to own. They enjoy a good workout, (fetching something, or playing tug of war are favorite ways to spend time) but because of their size, they can easily do this in an apartment. This June, we enlarged our canine family. Sweet Babe, an English Bulldog, joined Jiggs, (and coincidentally, Max, our daughters 8 year old boxer that we took care of for about 4 months) We've fallen in love with this breed, too. Babe is also loving, eager to please, and seems very attached to her humans. Babe does seem to enjoy her naps, but at 7 months, she spends much time playing. Having the boxer around seemed tailor made, as he was super with her, and the two of them spent a lot of time playing together. This was great for Jiggs, as he is deaf in one ear, and has cataracts. He wants to be in the same room with the other two, but doesn't want to be an active participant. As far as health goes, every breed has its unique problems. The cataracts are common to Bostons. (Two other of our Bostons had them). Breathing problems are also common. Jiggs had to have his soft palate reduced this past year to aid his breathing. We haven't had Babe long enough to see any severe health problems (minor skin rashes that are easy to control) but she's only 7 months. The only difference that I can see for an apartment dweller, is that Babe has to go out a lot during the day, and she defacates twice each time she goes outside. That's a lot of cleaning up to do compared to once a day for a much smaller Boston. Either breed, you'd love it. Good luck.
your doing your research of the breeds. There are several great breeders in the OK and surrounding area(states). A quick visit to the BCA website would garner you some invaluable info and resources.
We live in the OKC area and our bully came to us as a Christmas/ Anniversary Gift from my son. I had wanted one since my children were little, and he knew it. His adventure into internet puppies ended in a fraud, luckily he caught onto it before money changed hands. We contacted a local breeder, and have had no regrets. Drop us a line, we can get together and compare notes...
If the dream is big enough, the facts don't matter.
SO MAX AND HIS DAD PLAYED TO AHRD MAX CAME TEARING AROUND THE CORNER SLID ONT HE TILE AND RAN RIGHT INTO THE DOOR. HE DOES IT ALL THE ITME DOESNT SEEM TO CARE IF A WALL IS IN THE WAY. NOW HE IS HURTING . CAN I GIVE HIM ASPRIN? I GET CONFUSED ON THIS , THIS IS WHY I AM ASKING ...IS IT BUFFERED REGUALR ASPRIN ...NOT ADVIL BUT THE CHEAP REGUALR WHITE ASPRIN...OR IS IT NON BUFFERED ? O.K. whos bought Christmas Gifts for there bully babies yet?
by Christen, Blanket & Angel
I,ve only bought the girls a few things so far, I,ve got Angel some more baby blankets, and a huge stuffed teaddy bear, And I bought Bank a stuffed elephant and a few more woobies.....
I,ll just answer your questions from below up here, The kittems doing fine, still here, I can,t find anyone that wants it, Our oldest son is keeping it in his room, away from Bank, its still whining a good bit but mostley when it wants food, its a sweet little cat but my house really is at its "maximum capacity".... LoL, so I,m gona keep looking for someone who will take good care of it...........
And where doing fine, been busy but besides that just getting ready for xmas, Its my fav. time of year, So I,ve been decorating and buying-buying-buying...... How are you guys?
We are fine. I wish I lived near you guys, I would take the kitty. They are fun to have, butnot if Bank doesn't like it! Sophia still thinks our new kitten is a woobie, but I have curbed her excitement a little. She still gives chase sometimes when mommy isn't looking though!
Christmas is my favorite, too. I just love the spirit at this time of year. People seem to be just a step perkier, happier...etc.
On my way home to prep for 6 frenchies in the house...
by
Yep, today is the reunion of Jackson, his dam & his 4 litter mates. There will be 5 beautiful, fawn boys in my house (how lucky am I?) I will get some good pictures & post them. I'm very excited (and so is his breeder.) Wish me luck that not too much peeing on the floor happens.
Enjoy. I'm sure the 6 frenchies will be perfect angels. Are you thinking the owners might pee on the floor from laughing at the kids??!!! Never the frenchies.
Yep, it was, but didn't you think about plucking your eyes out during "the" scene, lol
by
I had to turn away from the screen several times during that very long scene, lol. Kept wondering if either of those guys have ever heard of laser hair removal, lol.

Just a little warning before traditional gift giving time.
Subject: Gift Cards
Well the crooks have found a way to rob you of your gift card balance.
If you buy Gift Cards from a display rack that has various store cards you may become a victim of theft. Crooks are now jotting down the card numbers in the store and then wait a few days and call to see how much of a balance THEY have on the card. Once they find the card is "activated", and then they go online and start shopping.
You may want to purchase your card from a customer service person, where they do not have the Gift Cards viewable to the public.
Please share this with all your family and friends...
I told you guys how windy it was here all day... I was sure when I went home that the wreaths i hung on the outside of my windows would be blown all over the neighborhood. I pulled in the driveway, all wreaths still hanging.. I was pretty surprised. As I am walking back up to the front of the house I see something lying in the driveway. (mind you it's dark out and I can't see that well b/c our lights burned out back there) as i get closer i see.... my SHOE!!! This particular shoe in the AM was sitting on the window ledge in the bedroom... Don't ask why but it boils down to be too lazy to put in closet but wanting them off the floor cause Max loves to chew on my crocs... I look up windows appear closed. I went into bedroom saw the matching shoe stil on the ledge... DH swears he wasn't messing with me (my first instinct!) So how did the shoe gets 3 floors down into the driveway??? Could the wind really have opened a window, sucked out 1 of 2 shoes sitting there then slam shut and lock? or is it what my husband believes.. the ghost in our house... WEIRD!!!! I'm almost leaning toward the ghost now.. when I came in Max was panting like he had been running around for the past 2 hours... was he chasing a ghost?? things that make you go hhhmmm???
I'm not much for snakes but I'll agree they are amazing creatures. I especially love the color of the green snake at the beginning. Now is the green one Saturday?
Mom and Dad are at the beginning. He is changing from a red baby into who knows what That's part of the fun of keeping Chondros..you never know what they will look like as adults.
I would say he is about 12 inches..maybe more. He was a gift from a friend, and was a very slow started ( did not want to eat on his own).
The color change is one of the reasons I love these animals. They start out as yellow or maroon or red babies, and as they mature, they change color. It isn't seasonal. Some adults are all green..some retain yellow, some have blue..and some of the most visually stunning are the ones that turn almost all blue or yellow
clear blue skies, no wind, and NOOOOOOOO RAIN here on the Oregon coast!!!! gonna be a nice one till later this afternoon. Have an East wind heading out way. Sorry for all of you having snow storms
Lol, that was my reaction too when I first opened the board this morning
by
all week long, on WORKDAYS when I can't read most of the morning and afternoon posts, people post like crazy. Then, when I finally have some time on a weekend, everyone sleeps in, lol.

I was out mucking stalls this morning! Yucky!! But I would have loved to have been hiding under the covers from this darn cold we have! It was only 15 degrees while I was at the barn...
my gramps had a stroke yesterday and is in the hospital. this is the third one he's had in a year. he doesn't speak or walk, but when he sees me enter the room he gives me a BIG SMILE. i'm the only one that can do it too!
i love my gramps and hope he gets to be home for Christmas.

some idget came to lahina for halloween last year in his new sail boat that he sailed to Hawaii, he was only going to be at the party for a bit and even though he was told that his boat was not in a good place he said it would be firne that he would be back shortly, the tide changed and took the boat out now it is stuck an a reef and the only way to remove it is to have a crane come i and lift it out the owner is not able to afford that and maui iswoking to hire it out . as it is the owner is being charged $1,000. per day until it is off the reef....
I was there when the man was trying to gather his things off the boat the day after Halloween. His clothing was floating all over the water. I am shocked to see that it is still there. WOW!!!
I took pics. I will see if I can find them.
For Gary and anyone else buy an HDTV this holiday season

HDMI cables are good if you limited on space or plan to use your reciever for Video and audio and then go to your TV.
What HDMI is able to do is take true hi-def video and 5.1 audio and bring it through that one little cable, I would use it but I go from my cable box to my TV for video but then go from my cable box to my reciever for audio so the hdmi would do me no good as I do not use my TV for sound.
and yes best buy or any other chain store will try to sell you "monster brand" cables for over $100 and if you honestly need to ask what an HDMI cable is then you don't need a $100 one!!!!
the cables do not differ from TV to TV, so plasma and LCD will ahve the same inputs
what does differ is the type of input,
Most TV's have a bunch of differnt inputs
most hdtv's have component (red, blue green), HDMI, and DVI (looks like a big white computer monitor port, cause it is) DVI is less and less common now thanx to hdmi
so before you buy a cable check the back of your HDTV source, cable box, sat box and see what it has for outputs, most likly it will be, HDMI or component I personally use component.
question 1, do you have a 5.1 reciever?
question 2, what TV service are you going to use for HDTV, cable or sat?
and 1 think you definatly want to invest in is a set of component cables for your DVD player, The red, green, blue cables, and set your dvd player to progressive mode.

I don't know what 5.1 audio means, so I can't answer that question. I'm considering the Samsung LN-S4096 (40") or the Samsung LN-S4696 (46") right now. Both are LCD HDTVs with 1081p. I'm not sure what cables come in the box, or I have to buy HDMI separately.
Debating whether to buy now or wait until January. I read on Cnet.com and other places that LCD HDTV prices will drop 30% in January. If that's true, I'd rather wait and get the 46" model instead of the 40". Right now, there's about an $800 price difference between the two sets. The price drop would cover much of that difference.
BTW, have you ever heard of OneCall.com as an online seller?

I have a DirecTV receiver, if that is the same as a HD box. All my current TVs are older model TVs. I don't have HDTV now, if that is what you mean. My current setup is I have a cable that runs from the wall to the back of the DirecTV receiver, and then another cable fruns from the back of the receive to the back of my TV. Just a very basic setup.

if you have an HDTV, that just measn that its HD capable. Kinda like "cable-ready". You hav eto subscribe to the hd service from directv to receive the Hd channels. Believe me, once you do it, you will never go back. I love HD! All my favorite shows are in HD... CSI, Jericho....
You have to get the HD cables, etc to hook it up. Its a lot of stuff to get and hook up, but once you have it, its awesome!
Ask your Best Buy guy (they seem to be a little more knowledgable than the Circuit City people in my opinion) what you would need.
for the HD channels. We switched to Comcast Cable and get alot more Hi Def channels then we did when we had Dish Network (satelite) because the local channels that are in HD we get. Didn't get the local channels in HD with Dish. Also with Dish the voices sometimes/often didn't match the movement of the lips. It was very annoying but they said there was nothing they could do. Dish customer service was horrible and it was very expensive to get set up. We are much happier with the cable.
Well you will need to contact direct TV to upgrade to
by
HDTV service, it will be the same type of box but will have HD output's on the back such as HDMI or component, you can check the box you have now to see but I doubt they gave you the HD box.
