First of all, "welcome", and good luck on your search for a 31, theyre out there and theyre great boats regardless of which power option you may select, big or small.
Im going to answer your question, but the reply is going to be a little longer than you anticipated, because the question is a good one, and the answer needs to be clearly outlined.
The mission of the Chris Craft Commander Club (of which I'm a founding member and presently on the board of governors) is to share info with the general public, and it's the same mission here on this site. The capabilities of the two sites are vastly different, and thats the reason for the existence of this site.
Secondly: you need to belong to the Chris Craft Commander Club, because its a club and not just a web site. There is a very big difference! The Commander Club has the potential to organize events on the water, produce clothing and accessories, newsletters, and many other good things. Its a great group of governors, and a great membership too. The potential is almost without limits.
This web site isn't a club, it's my personal reference site in which to download lots of info I have to share, that I can not download onto the CCCC site due to the limitations imposed by Yahoo. I call it a forum because anyone else with something to share is free to post here too, if they are not able to work within the limitations of the Yahoo site. This site has the ability to host unlimited photos, and we've loaded it up accordingly.
A photo is worth a thousand words, especially if you're trying to explain something, or show exactly which section of rubber hose you're trying to reference. Here's an example.
Our Yahoo Chris Craft Commander Club site initially had the ability to post photos within threads like this site has, but Yahoo took it away from us. I believe this hurt the viability of the club, and although weve managed to adapt a band-aid approach to keep it viable by routing photos through personal email accounts, I believe well eventually need to make a change if the club is going to see its true potential in the future. Were working in that direction, but we as a committee, have not gotten there yet.
After about a year of not seeing the photographs people were trying to post, and not being able to post photos or long reference links people could activate, I set this particular site up as a test site for the Chris Craft Commander Club board of governors to evaluate. So far the board has not been able to make a change yet; I have lots of information to share in the form of photographs, scans, etc., and this is the reason this site exists today.
Since this site received tens of thousands of page-reads last month from people interested enough in seeing the information, the need to reach out to the general surfing public and share this kind of information is without question. The problem is, we also have a lot of GOOD THINGS associated with the Yahoo site, we have to be careful making a change to a site like this one, because we dont want to lose the good things we have.
This site can accept photos within the threads and anyone out there surfing cyberspace can see them instantly on the thread. If you want to see what a Sherwood pump looks like, it can be posted in the thread like this to interested individuals like you. As you look through the Master Index file, you'll see what I'm talking about, there are thousands of photos and scans available to you.
If you want to see what a safety bypass looks like on an upgraded fuel pump, or what a Pertronix electronic ignition module looks like, it can be posted on the thread and you (and everyone else out there in cyberspace) can see it immediately without having to go to an email account
This site won't do all that the Yahoo site does, and it is NOT intended to be a substitute, nor is it an alternative. We're looking for something (eventually) that will "do it all". The club is still evolving, and it really has tremendous potential in the future, so again, I recommend you join up.
Since youre looking for a 31, heres a thread posted by Judy, with photos of a nice sedan.

On the CCCC site, you must allow "all" posts to show up on your email account in order to see the photos on your email account, so in essence, the club network relies on various email accounts, etc, to be viable. Its certainly not what we wanted, its what we got stuck with when Yahoo pulled the plug on us. Some of the CCCC members set up a "dedicated" email for only CCCC posting, so their personal email accounts are not clogged with all the chatter they're really not interested in reading.
Take a look through the files here (check the MASTER INDEX, it's loaded with scans, photos, diagrams, etc., most of which Ive loaded onto the site, but much of which others have shared too), if you see something that benefits you, then please feel free to take advantage of it. Thats why its here.
This site has been a recruiting site for the Chris Craft Commander Club since 2005 and I post the web link on my header for everyone to see! I have a lot of time and interest invested in the CCCC, I am still active on that forum, and Im still interested in seeing that club meet more of its potential in the future. Since it is a club that is on the move hopefully onward and upward now with a new set of bylaws and some fresh management blood that should almost guarantee its ability to survive in the future, I suggest and recommend you sign in there and become a member. Perhaps I'll see you at one of our upcoming rendezvous!
Back to boats, here is the aft teak on my 38, part of which was rotted, part of which was filled with bondo, of all things. You wont have a toe rail on the 31, but you will have mahogany rails to contend with, so take note!
Here is what I did about it; sistering in two pieces of new teak symmetrically.
There's a full article in the MASTER INDEX, by the way, outlining all of the products and techniques needed to do this, and how to make teak look like this:
Regards, all the best, hope I answered your questions.
