It's amazing how some boats get rewired with the cheapest looking wire. The "previous owner syndrome" runs deep too. I saw a boat that had ignition wiring that looked like it came from the "hardware section of WalMart". With small gauge wire and cheap non-tinned non-marine wire, the clock starts ticking fast for corrosion, not to mention the poor conductor quality. Why people buy cheap wire is beyond me. It can be totally corroded in just a couple seasons, and not worth the time to install.
