Our mission at this independent not-for-profit non-commercial web site is to "have fun and share information" for your individual personal use. Our main reference feature is the ever expanding MASTER INDEX Files which contain exhaustive photo and technical information on the Chris Craft Commander line (like these original brochure scans, featuring the iconic 38 Commander designed by Fred Hudson) , (an awesome collection of Chris Craft 427 tuning and specification information), and a few words about how to use the information in the forum, etc. Be sure to look at the information about the 2009 Lake Erie Chris Craft Commander / Roamer Rendezvous, second year in a row at Huron, Ohio, held in August of 2009 !! If you're a Commander fan, this will be an event you won't want to miss next time around.

Response to 427 Has No Fire at coil ... Help

Good news first. The 427 No Fire problem has been solved. Turned out to be a bad coil. Got engine started today, re-timed, and runing sweet. I want to thank all for your help in this problem solving. Again, thanks.

Now for the bad news..... while out on the test run today, something broke, yap.. broke. Had been cruising at 2500 rpm. for about 20 minutes and the engine started clattering. Coming from the front port side of the port engine housing, sounded like it was around the #5 cyl. and the engine was hot. Shut down, came in on Stbd. Check the oil level and was okay, plugs were all firing clean. Sounds like I got some BIG trouble now. Got any good mechanics on this forum?

Just gets funner all the time
