I don't now about any internal burning going on. But I have been told that the exhaust hoses get old and thin from water and heat errosion. A Bertrum owner having heat problems discoverd that while runing at high rpm. one of the exhaust hoses would callapse, restricting water flow (go figure), changed the hose and problem went away. Now I didn't see this happen on my run, but I can say this, the hose has a 4 ft. run to the "Y" and has gone WAY beyond its service life and my responsibility. Squeeze the center of a loaf of bread and you got the picture.
Will be checking the engine out this evening (hopefully it has cooled down by now) and let you know more details. |
