I've noticed some similarities but also a few deviations too, and I'm not so sure some of it is a careless typo. In any case, Eaton Dearborn Marine provided a 400 hp Interceptor for Higgins, if you wanted to go fast, and I think it was a 390 with twin 4-bbl carbs and not a 427. Ford also produced a 401-hp 390 for a year, as a high performance automobile motor (but I believe that one had tri-power).
The marine marketplace was a nice side business for Ford. I know of one older model Correct Craft that has a 352 and it is one NICE ski boat.
I have not actually "seen" an authentic Interceptor 427 installation for a LONG time, and it would be very interesting to check the block to see if it was a side-oiler, etc.
Great history on those motors. Ford had some really fine motors, but they were always pushing heavier cars than say, the GTO or comparable Chevrolet or Chrysler cars. There were a few exceptions to the rule.
My Grandfather (also named Paul) owned a Ford dealership in a small town in Pennsylvania, and he took me for a ride ond day in a new car with one of those big honkers, and I thought the darn thing was going to take off and leave the ground, ha ha. A kid NEVER forgets those kind of things!
