CHRIS CRAFT COMMANDER FORUM ® .......A photo-intensive technical reference file and ongoing newsletter regarding the original fiberglass Chris Craft Commander. Our mission at this independent not-for-profit non-commercial web site is to "have fun and share information" for your individual personal use. Our main reference feature is the ever expanding MASTER INDEX Files which contain exhaustive photo and technical information on the Chris Craft Commander line (like these original brochure scans, featuring the iconic 38 Commander designed by Fred Hudson) , (an awesome collection of Chris Craft 427 tuning and specification information), and a few words about how to use the information in the forum, etc.

We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !"

Response to head castings

I acquired my castings on E Bay waited for the right auction made sure the heads were stock with 1.94 intakes and 1.50 exhaust only paid 50 for the heads and another 45 or so for shipping so for right around 100 I got a set. Carb rebuild kits are available from several sources mine came from NAPA but I know Dick Morland gets his from CarQuest. Just make sure you get the right ones for your carbs I have AVS6117 Carters which are stock according to my manual. There are severaly different carbs used on the Q motors so make sure you get the numbers off of the carb for the rebuild kits. And I highly reccomend David Emanuels book on Carter Carbs for learning all about them.
