Response to 350Q rebuild questions

Getting nervous now it is getting close to that time. Been up late and want to make sure I am I thinking right. Found the marks on the flywheel last night, looking good there. Installing the distributor.. Turn engine to compressive TDC #1 cyl. intall distributor with rotor pointing to or near #1 wire. Then turn engine approx. 45 degress this should be #8 firing (or compressive) position? Then I can begin setting my valves as per the CC book. On start, if carb back fires. Release distributor, turn rotor one turn, start and then time the engine. Sound right? Thanks Bill
