Response to Don't hook the carb wire to the coil !

Hey Paul,

From what I've been able to research today, I just have more questions now.

The rubber hose from the fuel pump should be connected to the carb through some other type of nipple to the carb. But did not see anything on my carb that was there or that I could even install a nipple. Plus, my rebuilt engine did not even have a rubber hose though or a carb nipple(from memory now) though there was a nipple on the fuel pump.

I have read both now that rubber hose or copper tubing is ok as long as it is USGC approved to the carb. But you cannot have solid tubing from engine to boat frame due to vibration.

Did extensive search for hooking up electric chokes today. Big thing did not seem to be explosive, but that the choke required consant 12V to operate. From what I read after starting the engine the coil only puts out 6-9 Volts and won't power the choke correctly. Info said that, a only when engine running a 12 volt, source was required to hook into.

I was put onto a supposedly good mechanic this past weekend and he is supposed to be available the next few days. I want to do this well and safe. But ask two mechanics and you get two answers. But we will find out eventually and it will be a learning process for us all. Sometimes I feel that I take more care then the mechanics do. Though I know I don't have their experience. Point taken. Though kinda bad when they can't even make new boats as good as ours anymore!

Bill

P.S. I wish this past weekend was as nice as today. I felt like I was in an oven the past few days.
