After reading your post again I think I understand the problem. You are equating the cylinder sequence as in relation to the flywheel, WHY? You say logic dictates that whose logic? The Q is listed as a flwheel forward motor by design just like CC's 283 motor that was flywheel forward the Q isn't the first motor to have the design. The 283 flywheel forward was made with the distributor in the back of the motor and the flywheel in the front. So you tell me what is backwards? It is just a design function to save space personally I like the design it is easy to work on and the distributor in front is great when you are doing timing etc.. In all reality I don't think it matters one way or the other kind of like single lever controls it is what you are used to.
