Here's another view of what that "cam" looks like on the bottom side, it has intake and outgoing ports designed to create pressure and drive water in the direction of rotation.
There is a brass plate that seperates the outboard impeller and inboard impeller. This pump has two impellers.
Note the bottom side of the plate conforms to the shape of the cam port assy.
Here's a shot of the inboard impeller. Now this one doesn't want to come out as easily, it is also held in by a key and I added a little drop of lubrication on that one to loosen things up a bit.
With a needlenose pliers pulling all around the impeller, it finally loosened up and came out.
Here's what the drive shaft and back chamber looks like
The back side of the pump will further disassemble, with another gasket. I did not decide to disassemble this until I see what the rebuild kit has in it (still being shipped, and late!)
Both impellers out, awaiting reinstallation of new ones. I am replacing the big fancy chrome pump with this standard CC pump due to the tight space requirements of the other pump, which was expensive but I never liked anyway.
(this pump is being installed on a 283 CC setup that now has a 327 block and performance manifold, etc.)
There will be a pop quiz in the morning! lol
