That is quite an expedition you had with the Lancer, glad it all worked out for you. That ignition swap out is a very good idea, it's inexpensive and easy to do. The automatic chokes can be a problem if they don't open all the way when you are running with a hot motor. If they are partially closed, you will be running partially choked (very rich) and fuel consumption and internal wear will go up.

If you let us know what transmission you have, we can help with the adjustment procedure, if that particular transmission can be adjusted.
