Here’s a closer view of the seat design and construction. These must have cost CC a small amount of money compared to some of the alternatives. These were obviously either built in-house at the wood boat shop, or contracted out. In any case, they’re pretty simple.
The wood looked reasonably okay on the helm seat, it was quite bad on the passenger side. The main problem I see here is the fact that the hinge, itself, is so badly rusted inside and out. Hmmmm, not a good idea to put this back into service.
The hinge looked pretty good on the surface, but inside things apparently got moist and stayed moist for a long time.
