As you can see, the naked seat is pretty unpretentious. It’s a box back and a flat piece of plywood to sit on. The foam is still pretty high quality stuff, but obviously it’s going to be replaced.

The back of the seat was clad with a ¼” piece of plywood, to act only as a closure piece. The actual wood box, itself, was vented on the bottom, but the upholstery encapsulated everything. It would not be a bad idea to drill some holes to allow the whole thing to breathe better and have the upholstery guy put in some vents along the bottom where they would not be seen.
Well in any case, by the middle of next week I hope to have all the seat bases and backs in to the upholstery shop.
The work continues.
Nothing is ever as easy as it appears to be at the onset. Progress is a series of small steps at a time.
