Response to Shafts / Props |
| The story is: The boat came with 427 motors, 1 3/8" shafts, not sure of the reduction gear, but it would have had about 18 x 20something props. The boat is a 1967 31' FSA and will weigh 10 to 12 kips. It was repowered (after an oilpan had rusted through and one motor died) with 350 ci Crusaders with 2.5:1 gearing and still used the big props. I'm going with the Volvo Penta 350's with closer to the original ratio. I have the build sheet from the parts boat, that's where the 15 x 17 notion comes. I think I'm right, but if anyone can shed any more light on this, I'm all ears.
