| Pitch is pitch..on revolution of a 12" pitch prop moves the boat 12", whether it's a 10" diameter or a 40" diameter. diameter, # blades, blade area all affect slip and prop drag. I'd say you're not too far off with 15x17 if gear is about 2:1, but you may need a little more pitch. Some of those old CC props had alot of blade area...big ol' round looking blades. Lotsa drag.
BTW..I'm redoing a 1971 31' Sport express that came with 427's. Engines are gone..gonna go back with 454's, recam/retune for a little slower operation, kinda a torquer motor. I like those new down angle trannys that don't require reverse rotation motors. |
