| The build sheet for the "parts boat" from the Mariner's Museum shows it had 327's with 1.5:1 gearing and 1024/1025 props (15 x 17). The actual one I'm working on that had the 427's should have been the same had it come with the SBC. The 1st repower by the PO was with the Crusaders with 2.5:1, that made the big props and shafts workout ok. The repower I'm doing has the 350's with 1.54:1 which is real close to the original 1.5:1 that some small block boats would come with. Using the same calcs with the 17" prop, it's looking like I might expect to be close to 40 mph at WOT. That sounds good. I think 12,000 lbs is a conservative estimate for the boat. I have to start somewhere. This is some real good information. Great website.
