I think the new Crusaders are rated at a higher rpm than the old 327's, so ya gotta factor in the higher shaft rpm. Since hp=torquexrpm/5252, the higher ya rev something, IF the torque stays the same, the more "horsepower" you have. However, if both have the same torque at the same rpm, they have the same horsepower at that RPM, by definition. That's why apparent low hp diesels cruise at the same speed as high hp gas engines..at the cruise rpm, the diesels have the same, or more, torque.
And btw, only torque is actually measured..horsepower is calculated from this. |
