Our mission at this independent not-for-profit non-commercial web site is to "have fun and share information" for your individual personal use. Our main reference feature is the ever expanding MASTER INDEX Files which contain exhaustive photo and technical information on the Chris Craft Commander line (like these original brochure scans, featuring the iconic 38 Commander designed by Fred Hudson) , (an awesome collection of Chris Craft 427 tuning and specification information), and a few words about how to use the information in the forum, etc. Be sure to look at the information about the 2009 Lake Erie Chris Craft Commander / Roamer Rendezvous, second year in a row at Huron, Ohio, held in August of 2009 !! Response to BTW

Hi Trey,

I'm so glad you sent this note in, because a very nice guy from FL called me last week and I was in the middle of something and couldn't spend much time with him at the time, and I promised to post something here on the forum, in order to try to help him.

He also was inquiring about the internal circulating pump.

During the conversation with this gentleman, it became apparant that the pumps are directional for each specific rotation. He indicated it was a Sherwood part number on his, and I have not been able to check this. As a matter of fact, this is the first and only time I've heard anything about the circulating pump, since it seems to be pretty indestructible.

I can't help you right now, but by virtue of this post and some follow up, we'll get information on this for you, him, and others. I can tell you, there is probably a lot of these sitting around holding their rightful place in a workshop all around the country, because it's probably the same circulating pump used on INTERCEPTOR and other Ford FE big blocks, like the 352, 390, and of course the 427 too.

Does yours have a Sherwood number on it? Do you have any photos?

Stay tuned, we'll see what we can find. IN the interim, if you need a replacement, one of our sister forums deals exclusively with FE motors, and these are the guys who will have those circ pumps sitting around their shops. If you want me to post a note there with your email addy, lemme know.

Regards, Paul
