CHRIS CRAFT COMMANDER FORUM ® .......A photo-intensive technical reference file and ongoing newsletter regarding the original fiberglass Chris Craft Commander. Our mission at this independent not-for-profit non-commercial web site is to "have fun and share information" for your individual personal use. Our main reference feature is the ever expanding MASTER INDEX Files which contain exhaustive photo and technical information on the Chris Craft Commander line (like these original brochure scans, featuring the iconic 38 Commander designed by Fred Hudson) , (an awesome collection of Chris Craft 427 tuning and specification information), and a few words about how to use the information in the forum, etc. Be sure to look at the information about the 2009 Lake Erie Chris Craft Commander / Roamer Rendezvous, second year in a row at Huron, Ohio, held in August of 2009 !! If you're a Commander fan, this will be an event you won't want to miss next time around.

We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !"

One thing about those small carb parts..............

Response to Carb issues resolved ...

.......they only work right if they are installed properly. Sorry you had the trouble, Bill, it is frustrating knowing your beautiful cruiser is not performing properly. Congratulations for hunting the problem down and fixing it. Normally a carb rebuild is intuitive, and the parts that come out can be replaced one at a time with parts from the kit that match up. Sometimes if you totally disassemble something, THEN you are in trouble trying to figure out what part should go where, and how. When I rebuild a carb, I clean everything I can, and then start the disassembly process carefully, and then I clean each port that is opened, and reassemble at the time of internal part disassembly. Otherwise it would be a tough job getting things back together right(at least for me). It is amazing how one tiny little part, like a small spring and check ball, can make a great big thing like a 427 malfunction!

Again, glad you have Challenger back in service.

Tom
