| You will probably NEVER see the secondaries open at the dock. They should be adjusted to be closed at cruise also.
A carburetor is like a drinking straw with a hole in the side..suck hard enough, and you will eventually draw your drink thru it. Thats when the main metering circuit takes over in a carburetor, and fuel comes out of the venturis. It further atomizes by the time it reaches the throttle plates. The transition from idle to main metering circuit is called "crossover", and should occur between 1200 and 1500 rpms. The mixture on the main metering circuit is controlled by the main jets, the primary metering rods, the air correction openings, and the power valve/piston.
Swap carbs from one engine to the other. If the fuel consumption difference follows the carb, you know it's the carb. |
