Hope you didn't have any money on the game!

Larger diameter props are used for control and best efficiency in the cruising range. They're not the best choice for top speed, but as someone already noted, top speed in times of high fuel cost really isn't the issue any more.

Large diameter props will also negate the effects of a heavily loaded boat, as in the SF and TF being loaded with people and gear.
