My initial posting was as deferential as it could be, and this post is as well.
I'm absolutely and certainly no expert on the subject and I've learned much (or most) of what I do (think I know) here on this forum. So......so after qualifying the fact that I basically don't know what I'm talking about, parrotting what I've heard from others, it appears to me that if there isn't a shred of evidence at Chris Craft or at Hunt, that Ray Hunt designed the 28 or had "anything" directly to do with that hull, then it would appear to be a "mistake" for someone to suggest that he (Ray Hunt) had something to do with the 28 hull (if, in fact, this was ever done). We try hard to pass on "good information" here on The Forum, and we can not to date, support the fact that Ray Hunt formally had anything to do with the 28.
I have found the group here on The Forum to be a pretty savvy (and rabid) group of fanatics, and even the most minute detail is sometimes debated by those who know. On this particular issue, it is clear I do not know for sure, as clearly noted in my initial post. This may be a detail that "only those who were there at the time" may know.
Now having stuck my neck out on this issue, I readily recognize it is entirely possible and even probable that in the chronology of 30 versus 28, that CC commissioned Hunt to do the 30, liked it so much, thought they owned the design, and then they may have decided to replicate it in smaller scale on the 28 on their own, without involving (or paying) Mr. Hunt. Very possible.
I'll toss this out to the world-wide audience, again: If anyone has "any" info about Ray Hunt designing or working on anything at CC other than the 30' Commander, please speak up and let us know, becuase inquiring minds want to know!
I recall seeing photos of the boat, it was a NICE one, hope the present owner gets many enjoyable years of service from it.
Sincerely, regards, cheers, let's go boating!
