CHRIS CRAFT COMMANDER FORUM ® .......A photo-intensive technical reference file and ongoing newsletter regarding the original fiberglass Chris Craft Commander. Our mission at this independent not-for-profit non-commercial web site is to "have fun and share information" for your individual personal use. Our main reference feature is the ever expanding MASTER INDEX Files which contain exhaustive photo and technical information on the Chris Craft Commander line (like these original brochure scans, featuring the iconic 38 Commander designed by Fred Hudson) , (an awesome collection of Chris Craft 427 tuning and specification information), and a few words about how to use the information in the forum, etc. Be sure to look at the information about the 2009 Lake Erie Chris Craft Commander / Roamer Rendezvous, second year in a row at Huron, Ohio, held in August of 2009 !! If you're a Commander fan, this will be an event you won't want to miss next time around.

We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !"

Response to Well today was a LONG day. 38' Commander hauled out for props, shafts, and paint.

HI Paul:
Well my restoration project is still going!Ha Just dropped off the the second patch of Chrome at the shop in Nashville,First batch was 800.00 this one 2K and I still have a bout 12 small pieces to get done in all about 3K for the complete job.
While I was in the city I had drug out the old props from my shed and took them along to the prop shop,UGH they wanted 700.00 to recondition the pair so I brought them home as I can apply tha to some new one if nessessary. I did find the props are 23inch and I was thinking they should be 25 inchesX24. Who ever put them on the boat used them for a long time as they were welded on.Ha I had to get marina to use the big Prop Puller and sledge to get them off.
I cleaned them up and buffed them slick so maybe they will work.
Jim Wick said they were on some 38 with the diesels .O' well only advice I can give is never buy a boat that isn't all there. I have scratched my head a lot trying to figure what was here and there.I would sent some photos but my program that loads them from the camera is broke. All my money going for Chrome!
Regards,Bill
