CHRIS CRAFT COMMANDER FORUM ® .......A photo-intensive technical reference file and ongoing newsletter regarding the original fiberglass Chris Craft Commander. Our mission at this independent not-for-profit non-commercial web site is to "have fun and share information" for your individual personal use. Our main reference feature is the ever expanding MASTER INDEX Files which contain exhaustive photo and technical information on the Chris Craft Commander line (like these original brochure scans, featuring the iconic 38 Commander designed by Fred Hudson) , (an awesome collection of Chris Craft 427 tuning and specification information), and a few words about how to use the information in the forum, etc. Be sure to look at the information about the 2009 Lake Erie Chris Craft Commander / Roamer Rendezvous, second year in a row at Huron, Ohio, held in August of 2009 !! If you're a Commander fan, this will be an event you won't want to miss next time around.

We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !"

55' Commander ! ( Paul A. Mathias photos !! )

While Paul is working away on that nifty inboard Lancer, there is a monster in a boat shed right now just waiting to take another run on the Chesapeake, and it is 55-feet long. This is the Mathias family Commander, which they have had for ten years. It has made "several" trips to Florida, and undoubtedly has many great stories and memories associated with it.

Top of the food chain guys!

Only 43 of these were built, and 9 of the 60-foot Commanders were built, so if you see a 55 somewhere consider youself lucky. Chances of seeing a 60-footer are obviously a much lower probability!

Talk about a wake, running like this on the Cumberland river would make the national news, would probably wipe out a few cottages, a few herds of cattle, and swamp pastures. It would also probably create a tidal wave that would run all the way down our channel and into our marina!

Many thanks for sharing these images, Paul, I am sure there are many people who will appreciate seeing them.
