We fired up the big dogs again Sunday morning early, the sounds of a pair of 427 solid lifters filled the marina, echoing from under our tin shed cover. Birds and ducks took flight, dogs barked, cats ran for cover, parents grabbed their children, and some people turned and listened like they would have done back a couple hundred years ago thinking they heard a buffalo stampede on the way. However, Starboard engine was sick, needing attention to the fuel delivery side. I swapped out distributor caps just to be sure that was not a contributing issue, it wasn't. The rebuilt Carter (I did the rebuild) apparently decided it wasn't happy any more, it now becoming a "high maintenance management opportunity" for me, and it's time to rebuild the one I took off the boat when I rotated this one on. It's good having a few spare carbs, as you can rebuild them and just pop into the marina and do a 15-minute pit stop.
We did get out on the water, however, cruised a few miles on one engine, fired the Starboard back up in order to come down the channel and dock, but no need to be running it in the condition it's in. CARB TIME ! That was the ultra-dirty carb I took off a spare motor a while back. Soaked it down. Not sure what the issue is but it won't activate the 4-bbl when I rev, the Port motor sounds healthy, this one needs some attention. So it's time to spend some time in the bilge, after work some night in the dark, with a trouble light overhead, a beer or two, tools everywhere, better than watching the evening news!

I'll check valves, alignment, carb, fuel filter at that time.

Paul
