CHRIS CRAFT COMMANDER FORUM ® .......A photo-intensive technical reference file and ongoing newsletter regarding the original fiberglass Chris-Craft Commander series. This is an independent not-for-profit and non-commercial web site, not affiliated with the Chris Craft Commander Club ~~ or ~~ Chris-Craft Corporation. Our mission here is to "have fun and share information" about the Commander series (and those associated fiberglass boats on the Chris-Craft family tree) for your individual personal use, and by doing so help promote the good name of Chris-Craft, and help preserve, restore, and appreciate Chris-Craft boats. The main reference feature is the ever expanding MASTER INDEX File which contains what we believe to be the world's largest collection of documentation photos and technical information on the Chris-Craft Commander line of boats, (like these original brochure scans, featuring the iconic first 38 Commander styled by Fred Hudson, and many of the great Dick Avery renditions that followed) , (a huge collection of Chris-Craft 427 tuning and specification information), and a few words about how to use the forum.

We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !" Come on in, make yourself at home, we are a friendly group of enthusiasts, and we also appreciate the classic Chris Craft Roamer, Corsair, and Lancer boats too , as they are all on the same family tree and share much in common !

Don't tell Janet!

Dave don't worry, the one I'm looking for is a nice inboard Lancer with a totally destroyed drivetrain that someone wants to give away. We're not looking for the same boat, as I understand you are looking for one in runningn condition. Seems to me those two 427 motors I have in the basement, holding up one end of the shop, have been sitting there way too long and they need to be used. Therefore I'm looking for an inboard Lancer and plan to install a hotted up version of the big dog, taking a page from the Namken Book Of Rationalization. Since I don't think two will fit in a Lancer, guess one will have to do. Close branch on the Commander family tree, Dick Avery design, Jim Wynne hull, power by FoMoCo, what's not to like about it!

I'd go for an outdrive model but I don't think the outdrive would hold up against the torque of the big dog. Therefore I'm thinking about going the easier route with a drop in center inboard installation where the 23 has plenty of room. Who knows what one of those hulls would do with 375 to 400 horsepower? happy.gif Maybe we'll find out?

If I can find one cheap enough, I can swing the deal. I may have to call in Mark Weller to use one of those telescoping knee whackers like Tanya Harding's boyfriend used. I know Mark would do it for a friend.

In any case, if you guys spot something that looks promising and it's not on the other side timbucktoo, lemme know. Have trailer, will travel.

Regards,

Paul
