We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !" Come on in, make yourself at home, we are a friendly group of enthusiasts, and we also appreciate the classic Chris Craft Roamer, Corsair, and Lancer boats too , as they are all on the same family tree and share much in common !
Looking at the listings, there were some CC models that would have kept up with the Glastron, such as the 1964 20' or 21' 427-powered Super Sports but those were wood models. The fastest thing CC had at the time, when Glastron was putting a big block in their fiberglass V-204 Gulfstream was the 20' Corsair Sea-V inboard with 283 power, and I don't think it would run with the big block or the Donzi chase boats. Interesting segment of history, as it shows Glastron was out in front with their fiberglass manufacturing, and so was Donzi. It would be a few years until CC got Jim Wynne to design the 19 and 23' hulls for the Lancer and Commander line. I suppose the Secret Service would have loved to get ahold of a fleet of hi-performance 427 powered 23' Commanders?
