We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !" Come on in, make yourself at home, we are a friendly group of enthusiasts, and we also appreciate the classic Chris Craft Roamer, Corsair, and Lancer boats too , as they are all on the same family tree and share much in common ! Just start by posting a note introducing yourself to the group, that's all it takes here (we don't ask for or retain any personal information here, because our intention is to just "have fun and share information".
The original engine in this boat was a Chris Craft 283 185 HP. The engine had 20 years of service when the owners decided to overhaul it. The marina operator tried to talk them into a new engine because it was sea water cooled and all the cast iron was ruined but they wouldn't listen. They spent a lot of money on head work and boring the block and when reassembling it they pulled the threads in the block. The boat was set aside and replaced with a new one.
I am replacing the engine with a fresh water cooled Chrysler 318 225 HP. Having fun with the project so far.
P.S. I forgot to mention we live on Salt Water and it shure does eat up metal.
