We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !" Come on in, make yourself at home, we are a friendly group of enthusiasts, and we also appreciate the classic Chris Craft Roamer, Corsair, and Lancer boats too , as they are all on the same family tree and share much in common ! Just start by posting a note introducing yourself to the group, that's all it takes here (we don't ask for or retain any personal information here, because our intention is to just "have fun and share information".
look very gently at the area I outlined, and also just under the rub rail on the port side a few inches back from the bow. You may want to use a very fine 1000 grit sandpaper to just take off a little paint to see if there is a ghosted image underneath. If the boat was painted, it is quite possible the serial number was either sanded down or filled with primer or both, then painted. That would be some pretty good forensic work if you could uncover the original serial number info.
Also.....and this is a long shot (I will verify on mine) I do believe there is a small metal tag of sorts on the port side of the windshield substrate (on the hull fiberglass) underneath the windshield at the front port corner post. I will take a look at my Skiff to see just what it is I recall there, it might be there on your boat as well, since they were built along side one another in the same basic molds, using just a different gelcoat and trim.
