However...........I have not had real good success in getting mine to idle down that far. If they idle down too far the Parqons will shake and make a sound like the world is coming to an end. In my experience, running them a little faster is just easier on everything. I am not real sure just how fast mine are running, but I would think they are around 700, maybe even a little faster, which still makes it easy on shifting while docking. One thing you do not want, is to get them to idle down so far that when you shift into reverse at the docks you stall out. I always ease into a gear change anyway.
Also, be advised that if you swap to a 4 blade prop, that WILL put more stress on your drivetrain when you shift, as those big 4 blades will grab a lot more water and transmit a lot more shock into the system. I likeed the 4 blades I purchased a few years ago because they gave an almost instant response, however, there is nothing wrong with a little more spin while docking and a little less bite. While I like the 4 blades while cruising, I think the 3 blades are a little easier on the equipment, as a side note to your initial question.
