We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !" Come on in, make yourself at home, we are a friendly group of enthusiasts, and we also appreciate the classic Chris Craft Roamer, Corsair, and Lancer boats too , as they are all on the same family tree and share much in common ! Just start by posting a note introducing yourself to the group, that's all it takes here (we don't ask for or retain any personal information here, because our intention is to just "have fun and share information".
Chris, it sounds as though I am on the right track. It has been around 5 days or so for the CPES to cure. I may wait until the weekend before cleaning and sanding.
As far as the teak refinishing, I understand the drawbacks. Keep in mind, I don't have a Commander or Chris Craft with a lot of teak. I am dealing with approximately 16 trim pieces right now. I will have another 6-8 on the swim platform, 8-10 on the pulpit, and the bridge ladder/platform ladder steps. No toe rails, or large areas of teak, sadly.
The cabin teak I have removed and sanded down to fresh wood. I am applying the Epifanes, thinned on the first coat, and "out of the can" for the rest. So far it has 4 good coats, followed by a 220 grit sanding and another coat down. Those I am hoping to get a mirror finish on as well.
Thanks again for the help! I love the woodwork on these older Commanders.
