Response to Light weight = speed |
| Cliff And Paul,
The construction of the floor system seems to be the same as in my '67. The glassing at the sides is consistent with the way mine was done. The Nautolex was applied to the edge of the glass and was held down with the 5/4x5/4 mahogany strip shown in Cliff's pictures this strip held the side panel in place hiding the edge of the Nautolux it was also stapled at the engine room opening as shown.
The original floor stringers were made of mahogany and I elected to use clear fir as a replacement as is acceptable in marine construction around here.
I hope this helps some as there are a lot of differences in the interior construction from '65 to'68.
The light weight construction of the floor system did not help with the shallow bilge on these boats as they could not be kept completely dry.
Regards,
Rich |
