I have not posted on this tread in a while so lets get up to date.
The engines are in the boat. As of right now they are not aligned ; maybe this coming week. I pick up the shafts last Wednesday and install them . I put the couplings, props, and zincs on. The shop is responsible for the final hookup and alignment. I installed packing in one log and ran out of time to do the other. The fuel system to the engines is complete. New cables have been run and a connection or two still needs to be made. The trolling valves came in and hopefully they will be installed this coming week. The trans pressure hoses are ran to the trans so they will be hooked up with the trolling valves. The wiring harnesses have been run and hooked up. I installed new warning bells also. I think I still have some work to do here. I am marrying Cummins engines into a old Detroit boat. All the power from the bridge came from the dc panel with the Detroit's and now the power comes from the engine harness. I think I have some wiring separations to do. I am using my existing panels not the Cummins panels. I don't want anything but the gauges and the start and stop buttons to be on each respective engine harness. I did not replace the battery cables, Has anyone seen the cost on those things. Wow. I did cut off each cable approx 46 on each end and installed new ends with heat shrink. The cables were perfect in side. No corrosion after the cutoffs.
The mock up for the exhaust went well and I think I may get the new exhaust elbows by the end of the week. That would be sweet. It is amazing what you can do with 3 pvc pipe. I cannot go in the water till that is installed.. Those twin 8 exhaust at the water line is real scary if they are not plugged up. Once I have the exhaust elbows I can make the surge tubes and put in the water weather it is running or not. I still have the generator to hook up. I ordered a new exhaust manifold 3 months ago and as of last Thursday ups lost it. It is a lister peeter gen set. What a pain. I am ready to tear it out for spite. I have ordered parts for it 4 times now not one order ever came in right, and nothing quick.
I have painted the bottom. Compounded the hull, It still needs to be waxed. A new strainer cover on the gen set intake, I need to drill holes for the new underwater lights. The raw water intake for the toilet needs to be hooked up , Bilge pump wiring, synchronizer hook up. Some fresh water piping. I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel. Or is that the light coming in form the 8 exhaust tube?
