Just sharing this as an option for those of you considering replacement gauges. The original SWs in my '78 Lancer23 were badly faded and not practical for refurb. A lonely Chris Craft hourmeter sequestered in the engine compartment served as an inspiration. Scouring all the available options I stumbled on the SW "Deluxe" line, basically a late 60s/early 70s design that is still popular among 'rat-rodders'. The chrome bezel, black face, san-serif type seemed a great match. I've even sourced a depth gauge that matches. After I removed the old peeling dash laminate, had the holes filled and redrilled new gauge holes to accommodate some add'l ones and a trim tab switch; plenty of room. Downside is some of these gauge units tend to be pricey and could not find sets anywhere. Summit racing believe it or not had some of them http://www.summitracing.com/search/?keyword=Stewart%20Warner%20Marine&dds=1
That speedometer is NOS from '70s found on eBay, that optimistically registers up to 75mph! We can dream can't we? The gauge setup pictured is subject to change, just dry mounted them for eyeballing and to check viewing w steering wheel in place.
Hope this is helpful and all comments welcome.
P.S. who would like to lay a guess if that new dash inlay is real wood or something else?
