We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !" Come on in, make yourself at home, we are a friendly group of enthusiasts, and we also appreciate the classic Chris Craft Roamer, Corsair, and Lancer boats too , as they are all on the same family tree and share much in common ! Just start by posting a note introducing yourself to the group, that's all it takes here (we don't ask for or retain any personal information here, because our intention is to just "have fun and share information".
Thanks Paul. That is some rather thorough research.
Common sense prevails once again.
I find it somewhat amusing that some people would think that the old original equipment would be less of an ignition hazard than the current well designed newer technology.
A cracked or leaky crab cap system would be much more of an ignition hazard in an engine room than almost anything manufactured today in addition to all of the reliability issues that the old crab caps have..
The conversion kits for the old distributors are not also without their combustion ignition issues when combined with the seemingly preferred high voltage coils. I suspect a lot of these boat owners would be shocked if they fired their engines up in the dark and watched the spark show from all of the high voltage leakage in their old style of distributors.
