We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !" Come on in, make yourself at home, we are a friendly group of enthusiasts, and we also appreciate the classic Chris Craft Roamer, Corsair, and Lancer boats too , as they are all on the same family tree and share much in common ! Just start by posting a note introducing yourself to the group, that's all it takes here (we don't ask for or retain any personal information here, because our intention is to just "have fun and share information".
Thanks very much. Yes the factory assembly process for these boats included many of the same parts bins. When I restored our 1978 23 Lancer Overnighter I found the same situation; it was all there except many parts appeared very "tired". Thankfully Chris-Craft had switched to using Perko cleats and vent scoops that lo and behold, are still being made so I bought new as the cost was much better than rechroming.
For things like the shift handle and light mast, those were sent off for replating and the results were spectacular. Not cheap but not that many parts required it and as you point out, rarer than hens teeth. I used Chrome Plating Specialists in WI (920) 756-3284, Mr. Terry Meetz. Affordable and good service/quality work.
