PHOTO OF THE DAY EDITORIAL:
We have many spectacular restorations featured here on THE FORUM, from the 10 foot dinghy on up the scale, and some of these restorations look like a cost-is-no-object situation. One thing for sure, if you are going to do something like this you need to have the cash reserves set aside to do it right, and set a realistic budget, because doing it on the cheap just won’t work. These major restorations are to be judged against buying a new boat or newer boat with the same utility value and features, but of course our classic Chris-Craft Commanders like this one from Phil will look better than just about anything else on the water. This project began with this spectacular but well used 42 Commander Sports Cruiser that was in the water, and the thread we feature here takes us through the process of hull painting, issues with underwater gear and steering, interior cosmetics and upgrades, and the rebuilding of the magnificent 8V-53 ! This boat is painted in a similar manner to ZON ZON, but make no mistake about this one, it is called REUNION ! Check out the following link or click on the photo and it will take you to the entire restoration thread.
Phil restores a 42 SC to a very high standard !!
