I don't think CC knew what boat their particular engines would end up in, at the time they built the engines. I think they built a truckload (or trainload) at a time and sent them to the manufacturing plants. At that point I think the stock was selected as CC built the particular boat. Therefore if they had an internal order to produce ten 35' Commanders that time frame with 427 motors, they probably didn't look for a 427 with a particular pump, they probably just picked the motors from their stock and bolted them in. I think any model deviation in pumps was a result of using up their old stock of pumps, having to use the new model, etc.
Therefore, if three pumps are noted for the 427, the only way to really tell which one you have, is to pull it and read the serial number. Have fun, it's not all that terrible of a job, but its no party either!
