We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !" Come on in, make yourself at home, we are a friendly group of enthusiasts, and we also appreciate the classic Chris Craft Roamer, Corsair, and Lancer boats too , as they are all on the same family tree and share much in common !
On a distributor, it is the grounding of the coil through the points/module that induces a spark. Disconnect the module, put power to the positive side of the coil, and MOMENTARILY ground the negative side of the coil. As soon as you touch the wire to a ground, a spark should occur from the coil wire, which you hold 1/8" or so from ground. It is the collapse of the field in the coil that causes the spark. If you get a spark, you know the coil and power to it are good.
