Last night (July 3) was the big fireworks show on Old Hickory Lake, the Hunters and Ewtons were out aboard their Commanders and I was standing right under the starburst so close I had to plug my ears!

Photo below shows one going off almost over top of the Cedar Creek Yacht Club boat docks! Beautiful night for anything last night!

Just talked to Janet still up on the lake with her family, they're still shooting off lots of fireworks tonight too, in between rain showers!

I'll bet George Klein had the best show, however, New York harbor? Anyway, if you have photos, send em in! happy.gif

Regards,

Paul

Paul:
It is so dry here and with all the dad-gumed neighbors shooting off fireworks, I manned my duty station with my trusted 60 inch shovel just in case my woods caught on fire again! It is wonderful seeing so many people all over the country celebrating our country's past. Not far from me is the Fort that was the target of the British shelling that led to the wording of the Star Spangled Banner. There is nothing that could penetrate its defenses.

Meanwhile, all over the world, are Americans in harm's way, and others doing the country's bidding and let's remember to thank them. Not everyone is home yet.

July 4th on Lake Union in Seattle

July 5 2009, 7:14 PM

As soon as we pulled "Giggity' out into the Seattle ship canal we noticed we were following the "North American" from the "Deadliest Catch" series. (I just saw an episode with this boat earlier in the day.)

Here's a video of all the boats on the water:

After some frustrating anchor dragging on a pretty windy day we realized the anchor had a bunch of wire wrapped around it preventing from articulating and catching the muddy bottom. We pulled anchor, cleaned it off and hooked solid at a new location. It looks like Lisa was ready for a tow around the lake though...

Let the show begin:

Hope everyone had a happy and safe Independence day.

Hi Reece,

Interesting photos from the water, especially since I was standing right underneath this one, holding my ears, ha!

For a minute I thought we photographed the same burst, but upon looking at my first image again I see they're different. Was a good time, eh?

The Hunter boys came by the next day, said they saw you guys out for the show. That was one fabulous night to be on the water.

I was very tempted to bring the Skiff up on the trailer, but as you know, weather did develop late on the 4th and she blew up a big one. The morning of the 4th I was lamenting the fact that the boat was back on the trailer but later in the afternoon when the storm blew through I was glad it was. Since I lead a pretty erattic and spontaneous life when we have two nieces from out of town visiting, I was unable to coordinate like I otherwise could, so we'll need to plan a rendezvous some day, perhaps over at your place for breakfast, blueberry waffles at Gallatin marina? I'll keep you posted next time we're up your way.

regards,

Paul
