CHRIS CRAFT COMMANDER FORUM ® .......A photo-intensive technical reference file and ongoing newsletter regarding the original fiberglass Chris-Craft Commander series. This is an independent not-for-profit and non-commercial web site, not affiliated with the Chris Craft Commander Club ~~ or ~~ Chris-Craft Corporation. Our mission here is to "have fun and share information" about the Commander series (and those associated fiberglass boats on the Chris-Craft family tree) for your individual personal use, and by doing so help promote the good name of Chris-Craft, and help preserve, restore, and appreciate Chris-Craft boats. The main reference feature is the ever expanding MASTER INDEX File which contains what we believe to be the world's largest collection of documentation photos and technical information on the Chris-Craft Commander line of boats, (like these original brochure scans, featuring the iconic first 38 Commander styled by Fred Hudson, and many of the great Dick Avery renditions that followed) , (a huge collection of Chris-Craft 427 tuning and specification information), and a few words about how to use the forum.

We extend to you a cordial "WELCOME ABOARD !" Come on in, make yourself at home, we are a friendly group of enthusiasts, and we also appreciate the classic Chris Craft Roamer, Corsair, and Lancer boats too , as they are all on the same family tree and share much in common !

This boat has been sitting in someonels front yard mostly untouched for over 20 years down the road from my girlfriendls uncle's place. I got bored and thought i'd go look at it from the road. Hard top has long since fallen down. I'd guess the hull to be steel since it's showing rust but not rot. Think it's a '50's Roamer? Itls weird that its in the middle of Michigan and far from any big water. It's over 30'. I'm pretty certain it will never see water again but surprised it hasnt been scrapped. I'm curious to knock and ask if there's a story behind the poor thing. I dont think boats have feelings but still a sad sight to see.

Use a heavy wire wheel first

Eric, how true. In order to belong to the classic boat and restoration club you must be an optimist. Cup is always half full. However this poor Roamer has had a rough time. I'm sure there is a story there somewhere. Fun to know someone bought it new one day and made their family real happy. I am sure there were lots of good times aboard too.

regards,

Paul

There may be a story behind why it's still there. It obviously hasn't received much attention and in its current state and being in a rural area it seems like someone would have scrapped it (or someone else would have offered to). It may be a situation where the land owners let someone else leave it there but they disappeared and they can't legally get rid of it.

I remember reading a sad story to of how a Shelby GT350 has been sitting in the same spot in someone's front yard since their son (the owner) left for Vietnam and was killed in action.

Still odd that it ended up in St. Johns/Laingsburg
