Morning Doc,

I don’t see how you could go wrong with any of the first 3 (you can see my experience and subsequent explanations on TFO here ( http://www.network54.com/Forum/428660/thread/1151536146/last-1154969744/Am+I+the+only+one- )
I fish mostly small streams in northern/central Calif and have found that something in the neighborhood of 7’ works out the best for me, 6’ is just to short if I find an open run and 8’6” is too long for brush hoping. I currently own 3 Sages and can say that they are sweet rods
Sage Fli 7’6” (4wt)
Sage 470-3 TXL
Sage 490-4 Launch
I have never had the good fortune to own or even fish for any length of time with a G Loomis Metolius but everything I have read says, like all G Loomis rods, that they are awesome..
Post back some feedback on whichever you end up getting as I am considering getting a 3 or 2wt (probably a 3, not sure I spend enough time on the water to be able to handle a good fish on a 2 .

TFO 2 weight

See my other response about the TFO 2 weight. It is 6 foot, I don't think 6'2".
It is a two piece, I bought it ealier this year from Cabella's.
Nice rod, matched it with a 3wf line (since that is what I had, and could not find any 2 line in my stores.

Mystic Fly Rods

Mystic Fly rods,

I am a returning fly fisherman and was pleased by the responsiveness, feel, craftsmanship, accuracy and quality these rods offer. You are getting a premium quality rod without the premium price tag that the average guy can afford. I own a Mystic 3wt 8’3” 3 piece rod and a 5wt 9‘3”4 piece rod. The 5wt rod comes packed in its very own 32" by 2” graphite rod tube with protective sock. Both rods come with this same travel tube and sock but the 2wt rod is a little longer. The 5wt breaks down smaller and should be a great rod to attach to a pack. I have used the 2wt 2 piece rod in the 7'3" version as well but opted for the 3 wt version. All the rods are a dream to fish and cast. You may want to check them out at http://www.mysticoutdoors.com/ I plan to post reviews as I get back out on the water on the rods I use so stay tuned.

In closing, I hope this helps. Please tell them I sent you when you visit their site. Look them over and let me know if you have any questions that I can answer.

try a st.croix

I fish a lot of small spring creeks in Wisconsin. I like a 6'6" St. Croix Avid 3wt for it's moderate-fast action. These are great rods built top to bottom by the good poeple of Park Falls Wisconsin. give one a try!
