In the West science and religion have always been at loggerheads since the time of Roman Catholicism. But it has not been so in the East, especially at home in India. The Vedas mention that science and spirituality are merely 2 sides of the same coin, both trying the unravel the 'mind of God' in Stephen Hawking's words.

This forum shall discuss both the heads and tails of this coin. Modern science is taking us to reaches that were science fiction a few decades ago....nanotechnology and genetics threaten to change the way we perform and operate this world while string theory and quantum physics take us closer to understanding this universe and its nature.

But a huge aspect of modern science and its theories have been mentioned in the Vedas and their constituent Upanishads. Even Jain philosophy by the name of Mimamsa is proving remarkably accurate as far as modern science is concerned. Fritjof Capra in his book 'Tao of Physics' says that the "mystic traditions of the East constitute a coherent philosophical framework within which the most advanced Western theories of the physical world can be accomodated" and that "the world view adopted by the East eons ago is the world view emerging from modern Western science"

This forum is to discuss what exactly modern Western science and its theories and practices are.....and how they are accomodated in Eastern philosophies.
