Sadly, Jon~Erik Beckjord has passed away.by AnonymousThis man became a true friend of mine over the past six years. He held no biased opinions on his paranormal research. That is what made him a TRUE researcher. He was loved and hated by many. This is his obituary given to me by his executor: Mr. Jon Erik Beckjord 4-26-1939 to 6-22-2008 On June 22, 2008, Mr. Jon Erik Beckjord of La Fayette, California, passed on. He was a graduate of Tulane University, with an MBA from UC Berkeley. He enjoyed Scottish games as a MacGilvray member of Clan Chattan, sailed, wrote a controversial column for a San Francisco paper under a pen name, donating the remuneration to charity. Because of his donations of bags of food to homeless, he was privileged to be invited and present when Mother Teresa visited San Francisco. He was a politically active citizen, being one of the supporters and caretaker of the La Fayette Crosses Monument to soldiers. His film “People’s Park” was screened at the Cannes Film Festival in the 1960’s and he was “Best Boy” in the movie industry. He was competent in repairing many things as a “hands on” personality, read his Bible, and prayed wonderful blessings on people he cared about. Erik was born in Duluth, MN. Erik leaves two brothers, Ross and Peter, a sister Pam B. Forbes, and their families, and his extended family, Arthur, Molly, and Mark Hanson and Dottie Donofrio. Mr. Beckjord was an active member of San Francisco Mensa and proprietor of Captain Neon electrical company. He was a resident of Malibu for years until moving north. His Malibu Bigfoot Museum burned in the 1993 fires. Mr. Beckjord was an Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts of America and one of the honor guards at President Eisenhower’s inauguration. Mr. Beckjord was honest, generous, optimistic, a man of integrity, with no hypocrisy in him. He began a career as a city planner, but left it to use his photographical and electrical knowledge to form his own business, allowing him more time to pursue anomalies and cryptozoology subjects such as Bigfoot. He said he saw a Bigfoot three times in his life. He expanded to expeditions seeking the Loch Ness Monster, crop circles in the USA and United Kingdom, UFO investigations and making friends with many professional and lay researchers in many countries, to whom he left a legacy of much research. Interment will be in the family plot in Minnesota. Donations may be made to Hospice of the East Bay, 3470 Buskirk Ave., Pleasant Hills, CA 94523. from IP address 88.208.235.52 Goto Forum Home |
