Who has been to Mexican Hat, Utah? It's in the far southeastern corner of Utah. If you're heading north through Monument Valley in Arizona and cross into the Utah border, you're in close vicinity of Mexican Hat.

Oooooooh! I found a web site with photos of it:

Just amazing!

That entire region of southeastern Utah is "out of this world" ... I don't think I have the words to describe how beautiful it is there. Another site that shows the San Juan River meandering through the redstone and desert terrain of southeastern Utah:

    In 1984...

I played in band called 4x4. We played at a bar called the Top o'The Hat. There was literally nothing there in town. The surrounding desert scenery is wildly beautiful. Only a bar, 2 gas stations and a few rafting/lodging businesses resided there. During the day, members of the band and i took a short drive to the Goosenecks of the San Juan River-

I also met up with a gal whom i used to go to high school with. Her and her husband ran a Texaco gas station in Mexican Hat. She looked very bored and somewhat homesick. I heard later she divorced and came back to Farmington, couldn't adjust to life in the lonely barren desert. Now i heard there are nice mtn bike and ATV trails. Maybe it's not so bad anymore....
