Response to Re: Time and Space
With regard to UNC and high pressure strategy working: Right on about winning. And keep in mind that in a college team players are rotating in every year, lots of younger, less experienced players; older players with confidence dealing with high pressure leave. It's very difficult to develop enough confident players to play "the beautiful game" with this revolving door of players.
Unlike youth, where the same core players may be together for many years. Definately unlike the pro game for men, where the teams have tons of experience playing together and playing under pressure for many years. Women's college soccer is about the constant turnover of inexperienced players who are gaining confidence handling pressure and the opposing coaches trying to exploit that inexperience by not giving the players time to organize on the defense. Try to create a mistake, attack it and get ball in the goal. At this level, it really is about winning and high pressure, attacking soccer wins the most games.
