ATLANTA-- Georgia State women's soccer coach Domenic Martelli will not return as head coach after his contract was not renewed, Director of Athletics Cheryl L. Levick announced.
Assistant coach Mandy Schneider will serve as interim head coach, and a national search for the program's next head coach will begin immediately.
"After careful evaluation, we have decided to seek new leadership for our women's soccer program," said Levick. "We thank Dom for his contributions to Georgia State University and our student-athletes, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors."
Martelli recently completed his 12th season at the helm with a 7-12-1 overall record and a ninth-place finish in the Colonial Athletic Association. Martelli's 12-year record at GSU is 109-106-25, including a 60-65-14 mark since joining the Colonial Athletic Association. He came to Georgia State in 2000 after seven years as an assistant coach at Army.
Schneider just completed her third season as GSU's top assistant coach. She is a 2006 graduate of Georgia State and a four-year letterwinner for the Panthers. She previously spent two seasons (2007-08) as an assistant coach at Jacksonville before returning to her alma mater in 2009.
